Danehill Stakes 2023 Race Details
Race 5 at Flemington Racecourse on Saturday the 7th October 2023.
The Danehill Stakes is an 1100 metre set weights plus penalties race for three-year-olds run by the Victoria Race Club held in September or early October. It is run at Flemington as part of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival.

Danehill Stakes 2023 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Fine
The Danehill is one of the traditional lead ups to the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes run here on Derby day. I Am Unstoppable and Archo Nacho ran the quinella in the Poseidon Stakes and are fighting it out for favourtism. Chis Wallers Kandinsky Abstract has been well backed early. He gets the blinkers and J Mac on.
Danehill Stakes 2023 Runner by Runner
1 Barber – SCRATCHED
2 Libertad
He won the San Domenico first up at Rosehill, then was just way to keen in the run last time out. Can atone.
3 I Am Unstoppable
Won first two starts in the Autumn then was put away. Resumed with really good third in the Vain before a good run here last start in the Poseidon when he and Archo Nacho put a space in the rest of the field. Key winning chance.
4 Archo Nacho
Resumed from a two month break to win the Poseidon here last start. Think he will only improve off that. Can make a case he should be favourite.
5 Don Corleone
Snowden runner who was beaten less than three lengths in a bunched finish in the Golden Rose. Was also fourth in the Golden Slipper. If the fence is any advantage then he could come into calculations.
6 Mexico – SCRATCHED
7 Kandinsky Abstract
Made up some good late ground in Poseidon out wide on the track in a race that was dominated by those closer to the rail. Gets Blinkers and Jmac here. Looks dangerous.
8 Treasurway
Not good enough.
9 Stretan Angel
Was well backed here in the Cap D’Antibes and was a huge run to the eye running home hard into second. I’ve got some concerns over that form however, the time was poor and the form did not stack up at the Valley last week.
10 Cigar Flick
Saved from last week at the Valley to run here. Not sure she’s good enough. Place best.
11 Honor Galore
Unbeaten. Won well on the synthetic on debut. Was given a short break then resumed with good strong win as an odds on chance in 64 grade at Sandown. Untapped and might be the blow out.
