BRC Sprint – 2022

Track: Soft Weather: Fine

As you would predict in a sprint, plenty of speed here. Buffalo River opens favourite and is one of those that is set to make the tempo. Lands on the speed and relishes heavy conditions. Oscar Zulu should be parking just off the speed and has the right turn of foot to take this out while Soxagon was enormous first up hitting the line hard and Tony Gollan may just have the best roughie in the field with Salateen who can bounce back after a disappointing first up performance.

1. Alligator Blood (18)

The best version Alligator Blood puts this race away but we haven’t seen it for a long time. Prepared to risk.

2. Gem Song (15)

Will get back in the run and aim to get over the top of them late. Hard horse to catch on form recently but has a booming turn of foot when on song. Not out of this but prefer others.

3. Emerald Kingdom (12)

Racing very well and given an outstanding ride last start to run over the top of Apache Chase. That is the right form for this and must be respected.

4. I Am Superman (20)

Classy galloper but the map looks horrid from barrier 20. Has been struggling a little of late and hard to have here.

5. Soxagon (6)

Has come back well after being up on the speed last run. Much more going forward in this so it will not get it easily upfront however must be respected off the excellent return.

6. Buffalo River (10)

Has opened favourite and does relish heavy conditions. Brings in the right form and is a player in a very open race.

7. Niccanova (2)

Can’t have.

8. Scallopini (16)

Lobs on the speed and has an ideal running pattern. Should give a sight in this field.

9. Dawn Passage (19)

Good to see Dawn Passage find some form last run after a very disappointing prep prior. 1/1 over the track and trip although probably not going as well as it used to be. Some hope off its return but will need to lift again.

10. Desert Lord (11)

Some hope in this as it likes racing at the track and has a very strong second up record. Keep an eye on the market.

11. Tycoonist (7)

Tycoonist gets along with J-Mac very well and the map looks solid enough from barrier 7. Good chance in an even race.

12. Blondeau (17)

Will hit the line hard in this and finds James Mcdonald to steer. Big chance, especially with a solid tempo upfront.

13. Oscar Zulu (1)

Always had plenty of time for Oscar Zulu and looks a big hope in this mapping perfectly in the run and handles all conditions. Oscar Zulu has never missed the placings 4th up and is suitably placed in this.

14. Holyfield (3)

Never far away but neither a prolific winner. Does fire 4th up and with even luck from the draw can play a role in the finish.

15. Gospodin (14)

Warrants big respect in this field off a very good run last start. Ryan will just need to find clean air at the right time and it should save energy from the draw.

16. Taksu (8)

Lands up on the speed and knows how to win. With Buffalo River in the race may not get complete control in this. Always respecting the NSW formlines and has to be hard to beat in this.

17e. Vinco (9)

Should be around the mark but prefer in something easier.

18e. Irish Songs (4)

Can’t have.

19e. Sir Warwick (13)

Prefer in something easier but does relish racing at Doomben. Top 4 hope.

20e. Skins (5)

Has a load of talent but is likely on a Stradbroke path and may need this. Market will be the guide.
