Helen Coughlan Stakes – 2022

Track: Soft Weather: Fine

An open race over the 1200 that has Najmaty leading the market coming off an explosive first up win and will be looking for another here. Written Beauty found form again last start and must be respected while Gollan has Tahitian Dancer lobbing from a good draw and Jamie Kah in the saddle. A fair bit of speed in this race is expected and should be a decent tempo.

1. Babylon Berlin (19)

Going along well enough. Tough draw but has the right form and handles a little give in the ground. Solid hope.

2. Vulpine (17)

No favours from the draw but has built an impressive CV and has the class and quality to win this.

3. Written Beauty (21)

Found form last start. Tough draw but can be in the finish with luck in running early.

4. Dirty Thoughts (6)

Tough to catch from a punting perspective but 4 wins from 7 goes over this trip makes very strong claims. Major player.

5. Salateen (2)

Going along well and should secure a nice run in transit from the draw. Likeable at a price.

6. East Asia (3)

Has a strong second up record and maps for an excellent run. Some hope at good odds from the nice draw.

7. Kisukano (16)

Costly for backers but has plenty of class. Barrier 16 sees a tricky map, couldn’t fit it in my top 4 but can win.

8. Majestic Shot (13)

Looks the wrong price back to the 1400, massive hope at odds and should be suited by the drop in trip.

9. April Rain (14)

Terribly hard to catch but at $12 there is enough in the price to consider. Wouldn’t shock at all and gets along with J-Mac. Major player at those odds.

10. Juan Diva (8)

Not sure this is its pet trip with just the 1 win from 7 goes but does have a touch of class and Willo is 1/1 aboard. Strong claims.

11. Tycoon Evie (9)

Honest galloper who may need the run but can certainly find its way into the top 4.

12. Starla (18)

This looks too tough.

13. Redoute’s Image (11)

Strong win last start and brings in likeable form. Needs a tow into the race but can win.

14. Selburose (20)

This look too tough.

15. Stolen Jade (5)

Not racing like its old form, can’t have.

16. Miss Hipstar (1)

Not the worst at odds and suited with the drop in trip and barrier 1. Can kick up and give a sight.

17. Najmaty (15)

Explosive first up win. Yet to prove it can string form together but a repeat of its last run sees it just about win this. Barrier 15 won’t be easy. Top 4 hope.

18. Glorious Ruby (7)

This looks too tough.

19e. Boomtown Lass (22)

Can’t have.

20e. Tahitian Dancer (4)

Racing well and has never missed the quinella at the track and trip. Should be landing into the box seat from the barrier and has strong claims here.

21e. Eloquently (12)

Has been battling to find form but its best efforts can give this a shake. Keep an eye on the market.

22e. Centrefire (10)

Loves racing at Eagle Farm and enjoys this track and trip. Some hope at odds if it gains a start.

23e. Letzbeglam (23)

Racing well, keep an eye on the market and needs plenty of luck from the draw but has claims.
