Zeditave Stakes 2023 Race Details

Race 4 at Sandown on Saturday the 25th February 2023.

The Zeditave Stakes is a Group 3 race over 1200 metres run by the Melbourne Racing Club. It is a set weights and penalties race for three-year-olds that is normally held at Caulfield in late February. It is at Sandown this year due to track redevelopment at Caulfield. Total prizemoney is $200,000 this year.

Zeditave Stakes 2023 Preview

Track: Good Weather: Fine

One colt, 3 geldings and 6 fillies have accepted for the $200,000 Zeditave Stakes. Four runners had their last start in the Group 3 Kevin Hayes Stakes over 1100m at Sandown Hillside on 11 February, while the rest all came via different races. Two runners are sires by I Am Invincible and two are sired by Shalaa. Peter Moody has 2 runners.

The early favourite is Spacewalk who was a strong winner over 1200m at Rosehill last outing. Second favourite is Queen Of The Ball who was a close 2nd in the Kevin Hayes last start and meets the winner better at the weights. Third favourite is Rich Fortune who won the Kevin Hayes. Recommendation was a 3.5 length winner over 1250m at Canterbury Park last start, while La Danseuse Rouge has placed twice at Group 3 level. All other runners are currently $12 or more.

Resumed from a 15 week spell for 1.3 lengths 3rd over 1000m at Rosehill on 4 February. Tends to be flat second-up.Unlikely.

Was a close 2nd in the Kevin Hayes last start and meets the winner better at the weights. One of the chances.

3. Rich Fortune (9)

Won the Kevin Hayes after a win over 1000m at Moonee Valley the start before. Going for a hat-trick and capable of doing it.

4. Spacewalk (2)

A strong winner over 1200m at Rosehill last outing. Has won a trial since then. Leading hope.

5. Meridius (5)

Resumes after 17 week spell. Prefer to watch first-up.

6. Recommendation (8)

Has 3 wins from 5 starts and was a 3.5 length winner over 1250m at Canterbury Park last start. Has a lot of early speed and could steal this.

7. Wee Nessy (3)

Resumed for 8th in the Kevin Hayes. Looks safely held.

8. Waltz On By (1)

One of 2 runners for Peter Moody. Won 2 in a row at Sandown before failing on a Heavy 10 track in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas, Resumes after 19 week spell.

9. Do It La (4)

Placed at Group 2 level before spelling. Rough chance.

10. La Danseuse Rouge (6)

Has placed twice at Group 3 level and could show up.
