Angus Armanasco Stakes 2023 Race Details

Race 2 at Sandown Racecourse on Saturday the 25th of February 2023.

The Angus Armanasco Stakes is a Group 2 race held at Sandown Racecourse and is run over 1400 metres. It is run under set weights and penalties conditions and is for fillies aged three-years-old. The total prize money is $300,000.

Angus Armanasco 2023 Preview

Track: Good Weather: Good

A wide open field contests this years edition. Shuffle Dancer will prove hard to hold out. She is having an excellent prep and will just need even luck from the draw to be going close. Laced Up Heels was a pass mark fresh and has the talent to be taking this out. Call Di has talent and won well fresh but looks short enough in early markets while She’s Licketysplit should get a nice run from barrier 3 with Blake Shinn doing the steering.

1. She’s Licketysplit (3)

Maps well from the draw and found the distance too short fresh. Should relish the 1400 and the in form Blake Shinn does the steering. Live chance.

2. Laced Up Heels (10)

Okay fresh without threatening but suited up in trip and strips fitter for the run. The Amelia’s Jewel form is huge and Laced up Heels strikes a very suitable race. Huge chance in this field.

3. Shuffle Dancer (9)

Goes on top. Brings in the right form and has been racing extremely well. Finds the right race to notch up another win and just needs even luck from the barrier to be going close.

4. Royal Merchant (7)

Comes out of a strong race and while it had its chance there it was also far from disgraced. Maps okay from barrier 7 and this looks a suitable race. Top 2 chance.

5. Waverider Buoy (11)

Ticking along well but is overdue for a win. Maps for no favours from the draw but brings in the right class and ratings to give this a shake. Can win.

6. Eternal Flame (4)

Put the maiden away last start well. Jumps up a fair bit in depth and looks short enough in early markets but does look progressive. Place chance.

7. Jennilala (1)

Racing well and does have the right running pattern to give some cheek from barrier 1. Craig Williams is a ideal booking.

8. Call Di (2)

Too short in early markets. Excellent win fresh and always has shown above average ability but jumps from maiden grade to stakes grade and the ‘Damien Oliver’ factor doesn’t cut it for me these days. Can certainly win but does look unders.

9. Adament (5)

Racing well around the mark in much easier grades. Looks out of depth here but Kah is an interesting booking. Pay to follow any move for it.

10. Dear Jewel (8)

Prefer others.

11. Campania Volpe (2)

Can’t have.
