Guy Walter Stakes – 2023

Track: Soft Weather: Good

Mirra Vision looks well placed against this field. It flies fresh, handles soft conditions and maps to get a lovely run in transit. The main danger is Hope In Your Heart who had an excellent prep last time around and can win this first up. Espiona is very hard to catch but gets respect coming back to Randwick while Norwegian Bliss had the colours lowered a few times last prep but is good enough to figure here. Yearning has been hard to catch but flies fresh and she is more than capable of winning this race at very generous odds.

1. Mustang Valley (1)

Worth keeping an eye on the market. Maps well and will absolutely love a wet track. Goes in the mix here.

2. Yearning (8)

Absolutely D-Day for Yearning but I was very keen on her fresh last prep and she went enormous. Always runs her best first up and her best efforts beat these. Map is the query but the $14.00 is a bet.

3. Hope In Your Heart (2)

Excellent last prep and put together some brilliant wins. Maps kindly with Clark in the saddle and if wound up should be hard to hold out.

4. Mirra Vision (6)

Ticks boxes in this. Likes the soft, flies fresh and is a very consistent Mare. Can land on the speed without a whole lot of pace in this race and run them ragged.

5. Larkspur Run (4)

Maps well and will enjoy any rain about. Usually improves with one more run.

6. Espiona (10)

An enigma but well and truly the winner of this race at her best and her coming back to Randwick has me weary. Likes the trip, no problems on the wet but always a query on whether she turns up or not.

7. Norwegian Bliss (9)

Classy Mare who tasted defeat for the first time last prep then probably had just had enough by the last run. More than good enough to win this fresh and build back up the picket fence but the query is barrier 9.

8. More Prophets (5)

Very hard horse to follow but does have a rocket on its day and be storming at them late. Barrier 5 is the right map for it but it does want the rain to stay away.

9. Dynasties (7)

Looks a good hope in this even field. Runs well fresh and the Snowdens are in good form. Has seen the track and maps to get a tow into the race. This looks a suitable first up assignment.

10. Douceur (3)

Hasn’t showed much lately. Prefer others.
