Mannerism Stakes 2023 Race Details
Race 3 at Sandown on Saturday the 25th February 2023.
The Mannerism Stakes is a Group 3 race over 1400 metres run by the Melbourne Racing Club. It is a set weight and penalties race for mares four-years-old and up that is normally held at Caulfield in late February. It is at Sandown this year due to track redevelopment at Caulfield. Total prizemoney is $200,000 this year.

Mannerism Stakes 2023 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Fine
Just the six mares to go around here after the early scratching of Larkspur Run. This looks a very even race on paper and the market reflects that with every runner less than $10-1. Pride Of Jenni should lead from barrier 1.
Mannerism Stakes 2023 Runner by Runner
1. Barb Raider
Has been a drifter in early betting. She won the Vanity first up over 1400m last Autumn and has looked good in two recent jump outs.
2. Larkspur Run – SCRATCHED
3. Espiona
Quality mare on her day. Had excuses first up at Randwick. Should get every chance from gate five with Jye McNeil doing the steering.
4. Turaath
Was solid here first up, then weakened out in the Group 1 last start. Back to mares grade is a big tick as is the jockey change.
5. Toregene
Progressive mare who has won four of six. Was a strong winner of the Country Championship Final last November, before a good effort to finish second in the Summoned Stakes at Caulfield. The gate is a touch sticky but assuming they roll forward I’d be surprised if she wasn’t in this for a long way.
6. Pride Of Jenni
On speed runner who has been jumping out very nicely ahead of her first up assignment. Like the booking of Shinn. One of the chances.
7. Forbidden City
Is the rock hard fit horse in the race and there was nothing wrong with her effort behind Wrote To Arataki here last time.
