Skyline Stakes – 2023

Interesting race where a mix of form lines clash and do battle. Shinzo was excellent on debut behind the smart Red Resistance. In for 2nd in that race was King’s Gambit and the dury seems out with that horse. Corniche was solid in the Blue Diamond Prelude and has form around the likes of Barber and The Instructor. That should hold up in this. Bases Loaded was excellent on debut putting away a handy field and should press forward with Tim Clark in the saddle. The chances don’t end there.

1. Rush Hour (10)

Good debut win but does leap up a few grades and will need to win from the wide draw. Short enough with the decent leap in depth.

2. Disneck (1)

Strong winner last timeout before not having much luck last time out. The map looks kind from barrier 1 and the 3 length loss to Barber on debut is trusty form.

3. Corniche (7)

Goes on top clearly. This looks the superior form to these. 3rd to Barber, 2nd to the Instructor and 3rd to Croatian Belle. All of those are horses with big wraps and Corniche just needs a pinch of luck from the barrier to be taking this out. Very hard to beat.

4. Ganbare (12)

Clear danger for the top pick. Ran a super race in the Millennium and may just have to adopt the same tactics here from the wide draw. A bit needs to go right from 12 but a repeat of the last run sees Ganbare right in this.

5. Bases Loaded (3)

Has to go up a few levels of depth but its hard to knock the maiden win. Showed good will to kick to the line, Tim Clark steers and gets a kind draw. Short enough but is within the chances.

6. Extreme Spirit (9)

Prefer others.

7. Make A Call (8)

Solid last run and the Snowdens have to be respected in races like these. No jockey booked and a slightly wide draw to overcome but this race is within reach.

8. Shinzo (2)

Shinzo looks a major player but is also short enough against this lot. The form behind King’s Gambit is a bit suspect, the jury seems to be out with that galloper. Maps well and has claims but the $2.80 seems short.

9. Diabelli (6)

Resumes from a spell and showed promise last prep. Respecting the stables placement in this. Keep an eye on the market.

10. Tavs (11)

Has claims despite the wide draw. Respect any market moves.

11. Speedster (13)

Can’t have.

12. Wymark (4)

Elected to run Thursday but warrants respect if the stable chose here. Very good on debut and can run a cheeky race from the draw.

13. Side Show (5)

$325,000 yearling that sees the starter for the first time. Comes up with a kind draw and trials have been solid. Should run a bold race in this. Top 4 chance.
