Stutt Stakes 2023 Race Details
Race 5 at Moonee Valley Racecourse on Friday the 29th September 2023.
The Stutt Stakes is a 1600 metre set weights plus penalties race for three-year-olds run by the Moonee Valley Racing Club in September. It is run at Moonee Valley as part of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival.

Stutt Stakes 2023 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Clear
Eleven three year olds are set to go around in the Group 2 Stutt Stakes. Many of these come through the Exford Plate at Flemington which was won by Griff. He is top weight and favourite here. Verdad is the really interesting runner coming off an impressive maiden win at Bendigo. He has been well backed early.
Stutt Stakes 2023 Runner by Runner
1. Griff (10)
Won the Exford Plate at Flemington last start and was good in the Up And Coming at Randwick at his start prior. Will need a good ride from barrier 10.
2. Fistsoffury (8)
Appeared strong late to win here last start but I have my doubt’s over that form. And I don’t think he gets as economical run this time around.
3. Make A Call (6)
Blinkers first time. Started big odds in the Exford Plate last start and was safely held.
4. Mojave Desert (5)
Wasn’t beaten far in the Exford Plate. Maps well and I like finding Waller third up.
5. Deadly Press (3)
Blinkers first time. Beaten 10 lengths last start and started $201. Would shock.
6. King Of Fighters (9)
Was an eye catcher from the back in the Exford Plate. 1600 should suit. One of the chances.
7. Bulawayo (7)
Surprised at odds breaking maiden at Bendigo last start.
8. Verdad (4)
Super impressive debut winner at Bendigo over 1300m. Settled on speed and raced away in a decent maiden. The mile should be right up his alley. Keen to be with him at each way odds.
9. Limburg (11)
Fourth up. Second behind a subsequent Flemington winner last start at Sandown. Hawkes flying.
10. Invincible Shield (2)
Had excuses last start at Sandown and stuck on pretty well considering. This is harder.
11. Autumn Angel (1)
Was keen on her last start here when she didn’t have the best the luck at a crucial stage. Wouldn’t surprise to see her improve sharply off that.
