Breeders Plate 2023 Race Details
Race 3 at Randwick Racecourse on Saturday the 30th of September 2023.
The Breeders Plate is a Group 3 race held at Randwick Racecourse and is run over 1000 metres. It is run under set weight conditions for two-year-old colts and geldings. The total prize money is $250,000 this year.

Breeders Plate 2023 Preview
Track: Soft Weather: Fine
Plenty to learn with all 14 colts having their first race start. Three of them are sired by Snitzel. Peter & Paul Snowden have 5 runners. Scampi comes up favourite and was $750,000. Hard to not like the trials and looks very hard to topple. Volatile leads the betting for the Snowdens and maps for a kind run. Staight Charge has shown good toe in its trials and is a player in this while Highness has been well tried in early markets and showed nice dash in a recent trial for the Freedman stable.

1. Bodyguard (13)
Backed in early markets. A recent trial was sound and cost 1.6 million.
2. Capitol Hill (2)
Can’t have.
3. Counteroffensive (12)
Prefer others.
4. Counterpart (14)
Trialled well behind Volatile. From Trapeze Artist, this colt needs luck from the barrier but has shown good promise in work.
5. Espionage (10)
Cost 1 million and responded nicely in its trial beating Bodyguard. Shinn on for the debut is a good push towards its chances in this.
6. Fearless (8)
Sound trial in decent time over the 850m last week. Schofield steers and has been specked in early markets.
7. Force Red (5)
Can’t have.
8. Highness (9)
Liked the trial. Showed good dash to the line and has been well backed in early markets. Zac Lloyd does the steering.
9. Marais (1)
Prefer others.
10. Prost (4)
Has been specked in early markets. Out of the Snitzel sire and comes up with a lovely draw for its debut.
11. Scampi (7)
Will be hard to beat on debut. Has showed plenty of promise at the trials and hasn’t been missed by early markets. Expect money to come for it race day and keep an eye on the parade.
12. Straight Charge (11)
Trialled in good time but will need to overcome a wide draw. From the Waterhouse & Bott stable, demands respect on debut.
13. Too Soon (6)
Can’t have.
14. Volatile (3)
Gets a lovely draw and showed a good turn of foot in its trial beating some of these. Goes in the mix with J-Mac steering.
