Epsom Handicap 2023 Race Details
Race 8 at Randwick Racecourse on Saturday the 30th of September 2023.
The Epsom Handicap is a Group 1 race held at Randwick Racecourse and is run over 1600 metres. It is for horses aged three-years-old and older and is run under open handicap conditions. The total prize money is $1,500,000 this year.

Epsom Handicap 2023 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Fine
Hope In Your Heart was an eye catcher fresh after having no room for most of the straight and still finding the placings. Looks hard to beat against these. Redeiner resumed and was a strong winner. This race is harder but has good upside to come. The Inevitable ran some slick closing sectionals fresh and is well placed in this. Kovalica should be an improver second up and goes in the mix in what is a competitive race.

3. The Inevitable (8)
Racing well and maps a little sticky but does get the right race here. Closing splits last start where impressive and is ideally placed to give this race a real shake despite the barrier.
4. Going Global (12)
Prefer others.
5. Converge (9)
Hoped for more last start and was found wanting late. Good enough to go close in this but does need to lift off last run.
6. Golden Mile (21)
Got the job done for us last start thanks to a peach of a ride. No favours here with barrier 21.
7. Kirwan’s Lane (11)
Can’t have.
8. Hope In Your Heart (10)
Up backsides the whole straight last run and still managed to find third. A hungry Williams steers and have it clearly on top against these. The $8.50 on offer is good shopping.
9. Diamil (5)
Can’t have.
10. Kovalica (7)
Strips fitter for this and better weighted. Should get a lovely tow into it and has claims.
11. Nugget (19)
Very tough barrier. Love the 1600 record and goes in the mix in what is a very even race.
12. Pounding (13)
Racing well and didn’t have much luck last run. Should give this race a shake despite the barrier.

Can’t have.
14. Duke De Sessa (15)
Prefer others.
15. Madame Pommery (16)
Due for some luck this prep and is up to these if she is finding her best. Keep safe.
16. Democracy Manifest (1)
Racing well and gets a kind map. Solid place chance in this.
17. Rediener (2)
Excellent return. Maps well and gets in very light. Can win.
18. Barbie’s Fox (4)
This looks too tough.
19. Waterford (20)
Overdue for a win and finds a tough race to get that. Prefer others.
20. Olentia (17)
Capable at her best but needs to lift off the past few runs.

This looks too tough.
