Stocks Stakes 2023 Race Details
Race 6 at Moonee Valley Racecourse on Friday the 29th September 2023.
The W H Stocks Stakes is a 1600 metre weight for age race for mares aged four years and over run by the Moonee Valley Racing Club in September. It is run at Moonee Valley as part of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival.

Stocks Stakes 2023 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Clear
The WA superstar Ameila Jewel stifles the market. She is $1.35 at the time of writing. She looks every bit a Group 1 horse and should be taking care of these mares on her way to bigger and better things this spring. Pride Of Jenni, Papillon Club and Deny Knowledge all look good place chances.
Stocks Stakes 2023 Runner by Runner
1. Steinem (7)
Won the Group 2 Peter Young Stakes last prep over 1800m. Didn’t fire first up here.
2. Deny Knowledge (1)
Won the Country Oaks by a big space in impressive fashion last prep. Resumed with a good win here then just did too much work early last start and it showed late. Wouldn’t surprise to see her run really well here back to mares company.
3. Toregene (9) – SCRATCHED
4. Pride Of Jenni (6)
Stuck on really well after a torrid run first up. She’s got a few tricks but her second placing in the Coolmore last prep reads really for this.
5. Seonee (4)
Just keeps winning. Won the Leon Macdonald in Adelaide last start. This is another step up but wouldn’t be a surprise to see her run well.
6. Pippali (8)
Not good enough. Rough place hope at best.
7. Thought Provoking (11)
Resumer from Price and Kent yard. Handy enough mare but I can’t make a case for here her first up. Has drawn poorly and needs further.
8. Amelia’s Jewel (10)
Superstar mare. Lived right up to the hype at Victorian start with stunning win in the Lets Elope. She can go right on with it here.
9. Affaire A Suivre (2)
Won the Australasian Oaks last prep. Mare on the up would be a big ask for her to win this first up!
10. Papillon Club (5)
Really like this mare. Has been super strong late at both runs this time in. Suspect she settles much closer here third up from the good draw. She can run really well at a price.
11. Party Princess (3)
Not here.
