2022 Spirit Of Boom Classic Race Details

Race 5 at Eagle Farm Racecourse on Saturday 14th May 2022.

The 2022 Spirit Of Boom Classic (also known as the Champagne Classic) over 1200 metres is being held at the Eagle Farm Racecourse this year as heavy rain has made Doomben unsafe. It is a Group 2 race run under set weight conditions for the two year olds. The total prize money is $250,000.

Track: Heavy Weather: Rain

A very even field where Ringmaster sparks plenty of interest off an excellent debut chasing a runaway leader. Capital Tower is unbeaten thus far and looks to keep that record in tact launching from an ideal draw. Sandpaper represents Godolphin and will be hitting the line hard while Exo Lady is on 4 career wins from 5 starts and will look to be adding to the record. Good speed in the race is expected.

Can’t have.

2. Brereton (21)

Barrier 21 is never easy on this track but Brereton certainly has the talent and the right form. If Jamie Kah can weave some magic he is a major player here but the draw is a big concern.

3. Capital Tower (5)

Unbeaten thus far and really deserves its spot in a race of this depth. Maps kindly from the draw and can measure up to this lot. Hard to beat here.

4. Mishani Spartan (16)

Barrier 16 does make things tricky but a solid tempo upfront will give Mishani Spartan its chance to be running on strongly. Sound chance.

5. Heroic Son (15)

Hasn’t been racing well enough to consider.

6. Thelwell (8)

Won fresh in the wet so connections look to have this as a target race. The $31.00 on offer does look kind and it can give a sight here.

7. Jemeldi (3)

Showed plenty of promise early days and was a shade disappointing last run. Can bounce back from barrier 3 but the concern is that it potentially didn’t handle the track last run and sees the same one in this race.

8. Sandpaper (17)

Query on the wet but can figure if the track dries up. Has the right form but barrier 17 won’t be easy. Each way chance and has an abundance of talent.

9. Swiss Exile (6)

Has been showing plenty of promise and the stable are in fine form. No jockey engaged at this stage but is in with a shout.

10. Slipper Island (11)

Excellent last start win and can measure up in this. The $23.00 does look considerable overs.

11. Dimaggio Joe (20)

Keep an eye on the market. NZ raider that can measure up here, albeit barrier 20 makes things tricky.

12. Count Da Beans (13)

Comes across from NSW and that is the right kind of form for this race. Certainly in with a chance in this field.

13. Exo Lady (9)

Is now 4 wins from 5 career starts and building a super impressive record. major player against these.

14. Tyresa (7)

Flopped as a favourite last start but seems priced more on that than its ability. Can certainly bounce back and win this at a price.

15. Minks Star (4)

Good enough last run to figure here and maps kindly. Certainly a chance.

16. Menari Magic (1)

Can’t have.

17 . Beau Witness (19)

Can’t have.

18. Political Debate (10)

Scratched wednesday and saved for this. Pike creates interest with the booking, handled heavy conditions on debut and brings the right form. Major player.

19. Ringmaster (12)

Very good chance and the debut was an excellent effort when given quite a task in running. Considerably over the odds and is the one to beat in this.

20. Economics (18)

Not hopeless but a market watch is recommended.
