2022 Frank Packer Plate Race Details
Race 3 at Randwick on Saturday 16 April 2022.
The Frank Packer Plate is a Group 3 2000 metre set weights race for the three-year-olds that is run by the Australian Turf Club in April. It is normally run at Randwick during the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

Frank Packer Plate 2022 Preview
Track: Soft to Heavy. Weather: Mostly Fine.
Fifteen runners have accepted for the $160,000 Group 3 Frank Packer Plate with two of those emergencies and there have been no early scratchings. The Chris Waller stable has entered three runners, Bjorn Baker has entered two runners whilst the rest of the trainers have the lone entry each.
Straight Arron has opened the early favourite on the back of his eye-catching win in the Carbine Club Stakes. He saluted in impressive fashion, putting the field away by just over 2.5 lengths eased down.
Raging Bull and Lukey Luke are joint second favorites at double-figure odds. Raging Bull is coming back from his sixth placing in the Australian Derby whilst Lukey Luke is coming off a Class 1 win at Hawkesbury.

1. War Eternal (11)
Coming back to 2000m off a Derby run and getting the blinkers on for the first time. Drawn awkwardly but on his day, he can be a threat.
2. Maurice’s Medad (4)
Back to 2000m suits on an improving track but has been up a while. Prefer others.
3. Raging Bull (5)
Back to 2000m after a Derby run. Drawn much better but will need to improve dramatically.
4. Straight Arron (14)
Put them away with ease over the mile. Was a black booker from his last start and I thought this would be the perfect race for him. Hard to beat.
5. Jalmari (1)
Was no match for Straight Arron last start but still ran a nice race. Place chance.
6. Arnaqueur (8)
Visors on, Blinkers off. Can’t have.
7. Bon Vivant (10)
Forget last start. Should improve running around a bigger track on an improving surface. Place chance.
8. Inverell (15)
Drawn horribly. Coming from a benchmark 64 in Victoria. Prefer others.
9. Field Legend (9)
Hit the line well in terrible conditions at Canterbury. 2000m looks to suit but will need to improve majorly.
10. Lukey Luke (13)
Going for three in a row. 2000m is ideal but majorly up in grade. Could surprise.
11. Paternal (12)
Forgive last start, had an irregular heartbeat. 2000m looks to suit but no match for the stablemate.
12. Devil Racer (3)
Prefer others.
