Champions Mile 2022 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Overcast
Eleven are set to line up in the Group 1 Champions Mile. It shapes as an intriguing contested with many different form lines. Alligator Blood and Mr Brightside are back from the Cox Plate. Cascadian has won his last two in Sydney and is also dropping back in trip. My Oberon won the Moonee Valley Vase impressively at his first run in Australia and race favourite Private Eye was second in the Everest before winning the Winners Stakes last Saturday over 1300m at Rosehill. He gets back to the mile for the first time this spring.
Champions Mile 2022 Runner by Runner
1. Kolding
Has finished last at both starts this campaign. Hard to make a case.
2. Private Eye
Has been outstanding at all three runs this prep. Bolted in in the Gilgai here, then was second in the Everest and then won running away in the Winners at Rosehill last Saturday. Has won two of three at the mile and draws well in five. Top hope!
3. Cascadian
Won the Hill Stakes then the Craven Plate. McDonald sticks. Each way chance.
4. Alligator Blood
Comes back to 1600m after a gallant fifth in the Cox Plate. Will lead this and give them something to catch.
5. Mr Brightside
Closed off well in the Cox Plate and should get a lovely run from barrier four for Craig Williams. One of the chances.
6. Dalasan
Finished midfield in the Rupert Clarke and Toorak. That form doesn’t look strong enough.
7. Aegon
Kiwi who won the Moonga Stakes last time out. This is harder.
8. Tuvalu
Has been set for this. Top win in the Toorak last start but has to do it at weight for age now.
9. My Oberon
Strong winner of the Crystal Mile at first start in Australia. Fitter for that and the blinkers go on. Rates highly.
10. Kiss Sum
Was a solid showing first up in the Silver Eagle. Rough place chance.
11. Sinawann
On the quick back up from a run in the Linlithgow last Saturday. Was fifth there. Not here.
