Hot Danish Stakes – 2022

Track: Good  Weather: Shower or Two before Clearing

Twelve runners have accepted for the $500,000 Hot Danish Stakes and there have been no early scratchings.

Electric Girl ($2.90) has opened the early favourite following her recent placing in the Invitation, finishing a quarter of a length off Promise of Success. Two other mares are coming through the same race with second favourite Sheeza Belter ($4.50) who ran a distant eighth after being held up in the straight and Expat ($11.00) who finished seventh with no excuses.

Lavish Girl ($8.00) finished seventh in the Silver Eagle after sitting on the pace and fading to finish a distant 3.6 lengths.

1. Electric Girl (5)

Finished a tight second in the Invitation after almost pinching the race. She has been racing well this preparation with a fifth in the Golden Pendant and a second in the Sheraco Stakes behind Shades of Rose. She has drawn ideally to stalk the speed and has the form to win this well.

2. Expat (2)

Hasn’t shown up this preparation and had no excuses last start in the Invitation, finishing a three-length seventh. I can’t take her here.

3. Jamaea (12)

Ran well first up and second up before some poor runs over her last two. Her best has her right up into this but it’s hard to trust her based on her previous couple of runs.

4. Lavish Girl (1)

Ran 3.6 lengths back in seventh in the Silver Eagle last start after running 1.4 lengths off Zapateo in the Thousand Guineas Prelude. This is a lot easier back to mares grade and she has drawn ideally for a stable in hot form. How the track plays will give us an indication into how big her chance is, but with a fair track, I still have her a top-four chance

5. Night of Romance (4)

First up after 71 days. European import having his first Australian start with no trials. Just watch.

6. Charleise (11)

Poor first up on the bottomless track. Been a month since that run and she has had one trial in between. Needs to be at her best here.

7. Cliffs Art (9)

Had excuses two back in the Tristarc Stakes behind Chain of Lightning before copping interference in the Empire Rose and finishing well back. Draw doesn’t help her here. Place at best.

8. She’s The Gift (3)

First up after 119 days. This is her second preparation in Australia after ending her first preparation with a placing in the Pam O’Neill Stakes in Queensland. Might run a surprise race first up after having a preparation here but happy to watch and wait.

9. Divine Magic (8)

First up after 59 days. Marco Botti import having his first Australian run. Watch.

10. Samoot (10)

Won well two back in a benchmark 78 before missing by the narrowest of margins after a questionable ride in a benchmark 88. Big step up in grade but she looks to have a little bit of class. Would prefer it to remain wet though.

11. More Secrets (7)

Winner of a midweek benchmark 72 last start. This is a lot tougher.

12. Sheeza Belter (6)

The lone three-year-old in the race. She had excuses in the Invitation but was still poor. Dryer track suits her well and she is drawn well. Team Snowden generally improves their horses well into their second up run, so I am expecting a solid run.
