The Alister Clark Stakes is a Group 2 2040 metre set weights race for three-year-olds run by the Moonee Valley Racing Club in March. It is held at Moonee Valley as part of the Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival. The total prize money is $750,000 this year.

Track: Good Weather: Warm
Nine geldings, two colts and one filly have accepted for the Group 2 Allister Clark Stakes. The key lead up race for this is the Australian Guineas with three of the four runners under double figures in early betting coming through that race.
Alister Clark Stakes 2023 Runner by Runner
1. Dunkel
Is building a strong record with five wins and a second from his six career starts. Won the Tasmanian Derby at his last start. This is deeper and barrier 12 looks really tricky. Can win but is short enough at $5.50.
2. Bank Maur
He was fourth in the Australian Guineas at his last start and can be much closer in the run here from the inside draw. Chance.
3. Amenable
Looks to be flying this horse. Home hard first up at Sandown, then no luck at all in the Australian Guineas last start when striking trouble at a crucial stage. His work through the line was very good. I think he is clearly the one to beat with even luck.
4. High Approach
No luck first up, then good late behind Pericles last start. Is ready to do something third up.
5. Japanese Emperor
Was placed in the Australian Guineas at a huge price. Now gets Shinn. Wouldn’t shock.
6. Watadeel
Have always had a bit of time for this son of Dundeel. He can run well here.
7. Suizuro
Safely held last start and had bias favours at his start prior.
8. Northern Barage
Not here.
9. Mr Fabulous
Charged home from the back on debut here, then did a really good job to break his maiden at Benalla when backed as if unbeatable. Knock out.
10. Ceerseven
Was the definition of a moral beat in an easier race at Sandown last start. He’s got a lot of ability and it’s no surprise to see some money for him at double figures in the early betting.
11. Cheval Savant
Broke maiden at Stawell last stat. This is a big step up.
12. Running On Time
The lone filly in the field. Prefer others.
