The Centaurea Stakes is a Listed race held at Morphettville racecourse over 2019 metres. It is for fillies and mares three-years-old and upwards and is run under set weights plus penalties conditions. The total prizemoney is $120,000 this year.

There is a capacity field of 14 for the 2024 Thomas Farms Centaurea Stakes with all mares and no fillies this year. There are nine 4YOs, three 5YOs, one 6YO and one 7YO. Six of the runners had their last start in the Group 2 Queen Of The South Stakes over 1600m at Morphettville on 27th April (won by Seonee) and two in the Listed City Of Adelaide Handicap over 1527m at Morphettville on 13th April (won by Chicago Storm), while the rest came via different races. Two runners are sired by Written Tycoon and two by Le Havre. Trainers Mick Price & Michael Kent (Jnr) have 2 runners and Matt Cumani has two.
The short-priced early favourite is Sea What I See who has won all 5 starts this campaign. Second favourite is Queen Of The South Stakes winner Seonee who beat several of her rivals here. Third favourite is Silent Surrente who was 3rd in the Queen Of the South. Rivaport finished 8th in that race,but was a good 3rd in the Group 3 Epona Stakes at Rosehill the start before. All other runners are currently $20 or longer.
