Race 8 at Morphettville Racecourse on Saturday 11th May 2024.
The Goodwood is a Group 1 race held at Morphettville racecourse over 1200 metres. It is for three-year-olds and upwards and is run under set weights plus penalties conditions. The total prizemoney is $1,000,000 this year.

Following the early scratching of Learning To Fly, 16 runners remain for the 2024 The Sportsbet Goodwood with 7 geldings, 2 stallions, one colt, 4 mares and 2 fillies. There are four 3YOs, six 4YOs, five 5YOs and a 6YO. Four of the runners had their last start in the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes over 1200m at Morphettville on 27th April (won by Climbing Star), four in the Group 3 John Hawkes Stakes over 1100m at Morphettville on 27th April (won by Extremely Lucky), two in The Quokka over 1200m at Ascot on 20th April (won by Overpass) and two in the Group 2 Tobin Bronze Stakes over 1200m at Morphettville on 27th April (won by Skybird), while the rest came via different races. The early favourite is Amelia’s Jewel who was runner-up in The Quokka last outing and has won 9 of her 15 starts. Second favouritism is shared between Benedetta who was a close 3rd in the Robert Sangster and 3YO Oscar’s Fortune who was 3rd in The Quokka. I Am Me ran 4th in the Robert Sangster, while Johnny Rocker finished 2 lengths off the winner in the Group 1 T J Smith Stakes at Randwick. All other runners are currently $12 or longer.
