The Silk Stocking is a Listed race held at Sunshine Coast Racecourse and is run over 1400 metres. It is for fillies and mares and is run under handicap conditions. The total prize money is $160,000 this year.

Silk Stocking 2024 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Fine
Thalassophile might find trouble from the draw but does look very nicely placed in this field. J-Mac rides and should be afforded every chance from the good draw. Party For One is overdue for a win but does strike a suitable race. Queenmaker should be reaching peak fitness and has been improving with every run. Sonora is going well for the new camp and also should pose a threat.

1. Thalassophile (1)
J-Mac rides very well aboard but not convinced barrier 1 suits its pattern. Will need luck at the right time to be winning but huge chance if it gets it.
2. Overriding (9)
Should lob up on speed and give a good sight. Building a tidy record and is a good chance in this.
3. Princess Rhaenys (3)
Leaning to others.
4. London Point (6)
Can’t have.
5. One ‘N’ Only (12)
This looks too tough.
6. Party For One (2)
Doesn’t win out of turn but starting to hit form again. Should get its chance from barrier 2 and does strike the right race.
7. Queenmaker (5)
She takes a while to build into her preps and should be reaching peak fitness now. Good run last start, maps well from barrier 2 and ticks the boxes to be taking this race out. Very good hope.
8. Russian Warrior (4)
Can’t have.
9. Powerful Peg (10)
Quality runner that deserves a win and brings in some solid NSW form. Tricky draw but right in the mix here.
10. Sonora (13)
Racing well and can overcome the tough draw. Finds the right race to keep winning.
11. Tojaki (7)
Won by a huge margin last run and can go on with things here. Query on the form but hard to knock how it hit the line and this look a suitable stepping stone.
12. Crazy Train (8)
Can’t have.
13. Goldeel (14)
Prefer others.
14. Star Of Chaos (11)
Will land right up on speed and any give in the ground is ideal. Solid chance at odds.
15. Poetic Drama (18)
This looks too tough.
16. Renouf (15)
Can’t have.
17. Sebring Girl (16)
Capable of bobbing up at odds and the wide draw is okay as it gets back in the run anyways. Can win.
