The Cummings Stakes (formerly R A Lee Stakes) is a Group 3 race held at Morphettville racecourse over 1600 metres. It is for three-year-olds and upwards and is run under set weights plus penalties conditions. The total prizemoney is $220,000 this year.

There is a capacity field of 16 plus 2 emergencies for the 2024 Hahn The Cummings Stakes with 12 geldings and 6 mares. There are two 4YOs, seven 5YOs, six 6YOs, one 7YO ad two 8YOs. Four of the runners had their last start in a 3YO+ Open Set Weight With Penalties over 1600m at Caulfield on 27th April (won by Belle Savoir), four in an Open Handicap over 1600m at Morphettville on 27th April (won by Chicago Storm) and three in an Open Handicap over 1400m at Caulfield on 27th April (won by Edison), while the rest came via different races. Two runners are sired by Toronado and two by Pride Of Dubai. Trainers Will Clarken & Niki O’Shea have 2 runners.
The betting is fairly open. Early favouritism is split between Pounding who took forever to wind up when 4th over 1600m at Caulfield last start, and Jimmy The Bear who chased solidly out wide for 4th over 1400m when resuming. Third favourite is Second To Nun who just missed at this track and trip last time. Sirileo Miss resumed from a long spell to finish 3 lengths back at Bendigo. King Magnus chased solidly for 3rd over 1400m at Caulfield when resuming, while Chicago Storm is chasing a hat-trick after winning his last 2 at Morphettville.
