Breeders’ Stakes – 2022

Track: Good Weather: Scattered Showers.

Nine runners have accepted for the $127,250 Group 3 Breeders’ Stakes and there have been no early scratchings. There are no dual entries from trainers, so each trainer will have just one entry each.

See You In Heaven is coming off a nice 1.5-length win in the Dequetteville Stakes which was mighty impressive, especially the way she picked up late. Eye of the Eagle has had just the one career start where he was a solid second behind Cannonball at Caulfield in the Redoute’s Choice Stakes. Twin Stars was a convincing winner on debut, as he took out the SA 2yo Magic Millions Classic by 1.37 lengths.

1. Twin Stars (6)

Won well on debut and has had a nice trial since. Will be better for the run and isn’t without a hope.

2. Eye of the Eagle (2)

Ran a solid second to Cannonball last start. Fifth placing from that race won here last weekend nicely. Drawn well and should take a world of beating.

3. Spencer’s Spirit (4)

Going to need to improve dramatically to win.

4. Sir Grumpy (8)

Wide-throughout at Port Lincoln. Prefer others.

5. See You In Heaven (9)

Average first-up before sprouting wings second-up to win convincingly. Drawn awkwardly but she is the one to beat with the right run.

6. Street Delight (1)

Won really well last start at Sale over the 1300m though the jockey change is a query. Drawn ideally but might end up further back than they want.

7. Hope At Hand (3)

Really liked her win at this track last time out but she didn’t beat a lot. Definite place chance.

8. Lalaguna (5)

Had her chance at Ballarat to break the maiden status, but the stable can produce on the big day and the booking of Kah puts eyes on it.

9. Motitsi (7)

Can’t have.
