Australasian Oaks – 2022

Track: Good Weather: Scattered Showers.

Twenty runners have accepted for the $502,250 Group 1 Australasian Oaks with four of them being emergencies and there have been no early scratchings. The Danny O’Brien stable, Chris Waller Stable, and Patrick Payne stable all have two runners engaged whilst the remaining trainers have one entry each.

My Whisper is coming off a nice win in the Auraria Stakes, where she beat home rivals several rivals from this race. She is aiming for five wins in a row as she tackles the 2000m for the first time. El Patroness heads into this contest after her slashing win in the Australian Oaks on a bottomless track at Randwick. Bon’s A Pearla ran second behind My Whisper in the Auraria Stakes and will be looking to go one better at her first go at 2000m.

1. El Patroness (8)

She is a deserved favourite and should get into a prime position throughout this race. Any showers that hit the track will work in her advantage. One to beat.

2. Barb Raider (14)

Will look to do better than her eleventh in the Queen of the Turf. Prefer others.

3. Daisies (17)

Ran a distant third to Harleymoven in the Port Adelaide Guineas when favourite. Won’t mind any rain if it comes but the draw is horrible.

4. Bon’s A Pearla (5)

Drawn well to stalk the speed. Gets the Winkers on for the first time. She can run a massive race again.

5. Douceur (15)

Up to a suitable distance now. Was lame last start and start before she arguably should have won. Won’t surprise me if they head towards the front from the draw. Runner-up in the Wakeful Stakes and the VRC Oaks last preparation. Chance.

6. My Whisper (3)

Going for five straight. Unknown at 2000m but form suggests she will run well.

7. Mac N Cheese (18)

Looked to have been hampered last in loss to My Whisper. Blinkers go on the first time. Will be flying late.

8. Mamounia (20)

Can’t have.

9. Fortunate Kiss (4)

Looks outclassed.

10. Glint of Hope (2)

Looks to have come back better this preparation and is screaming for the 2000m and maybe longer. Draw ensures it’s a big chance.

11. Lady Chant (12)

Good luck to the W.A Raider here but I can’t have it.

12. Ancient Girl (1)

Will look the winner a long way from home, but I prefer others.

13. Pretty Amazing (19)

Can’t have from the draw and recent form.

14. So You See (10)

Hit the lead very early last start and looked a touch lost. Blinkers go on for the first time and up to 2000m suits. Is a chance at odds.

15. Stray (13)

Looks outclassed.

16. Morrissette (7)

Looks outclassed.

Can run well if it gets a run.
