Queensland Guineas – 2022

Track: Good  Weather: Fine

Some mixed form lines in this race. Godolphin brings Character over and it looks suited back in trip and off the heavy ground. Green Belt is favourite and deserves to be respected coming off a strong return and is unbeaten over the trip. Bend The Knee is the one at odds that looks a huge threat launching from the good draw and bringing in the right form. Good race.

1. Coastwatch (9)

Its best sees it right in the finish but past 2 runs have been a little poor. Monitoring the market because if it receives support it is worth a bet. Classy at its best and can win.

2. Character (1)

Didn’t run out the trip and also couldn’t cope with the horrid conditions. Back in trip and barrier 1, looks really suited here and is a great each-way chance at odds.

3. Bend The Knee (2)

Massive chance provided it handles the track. Drawn nicely, should get the right run in transit and brings in the right form. Some query if the rain arrives, a good deck would be ideal. Very hard to beat.

4. Dark Destroyer (4)

Poor first up however does come out of the right race. Drawn well and respecting the market.

5. Cape Breton (7)

Does bring in the right form and with a good run in transit can figure in the finish. Likeable at odds.

6. Red Wave (5)

Suited by any rain and maps well whereas a lot of chances in this race are drawn wide. If it can use the good draw it will be in the finish.

7. Southern Stock (11)

The more rain the better for Southern Stock who found plenty to win first up. Harder here but it is certainly in with a shout.

8. Menazzi (14)

Consistent and wouldn’t surprise if it was in the finish. Barrier 14 isn’t ideal but can run home well at odds.

9. Whitewater (10)

On the up and Vandyke runners always warrant respect. Harder here but can show up at odds.

10. Green Belt (13)

2/2 over the 1600 and resuming run was good. Needs luck from the draw but does have class. Hard enough to beat in an open field.

11. Three Wise Men (8)  – SCRATCHED

12. Ashgrove (6)

Suited up to the 1600. Hard to tell where it is at off the first-up run so the market moves will be vital for it.

13. Antonio Giovanni (12)

Up from maiden grade is the query but has always shown some promise. Not hopeless at odds but prefer others.

14. Kipling’s Journey (16)

Can’t have.

15. Festival Dancer (15)

Loves the 1600 with 4 wins from 5 goes. Looks a solid chance however will need plenty of luck from barrier 15.

16. Sea Ripple (3)

Its a harder task here but solid enough run last start. Would like to see a market push before considering.
