Mugatoo (Randwick Race 8 No. 2)
This six-year-old gelding has won six of his eight Australian starts and has been dominant in each of his three wins this preparation. He won the Listed Winter Challenge by 0.8 length over 1500m at Rosehill on 25 July when resuming, then won the Group 3 Premiers Cup by 1.3 lengths over 1900m at Rosehill on 29 August. At his latest start he won the Group 3 Newcastle Cup by 1.54 lengths over 2300m at Newcastle on 18 September. This is toughest test but there seem to be no chinks in his armour and he looks the one to beat.

Handle The Truth (Randwick Race 9 No. 1):
This Star Witness gelding from Canberra resumes from a 15 week spell and has won four from six when fresh. He finished 4.3 lengths 6th in the Listed Bob Charley AO Stakes over 1100m at Randwick on 6 June , then was 1.3 lengths 2nd in the Winter Dash over 1200m at Randwick on 20 June. He has won both lead-up trials and is trained by Keith Dryden who has trained at Canberra for a very long time and doesn’t bring horses to Sydney unless he expects them to go well. He looks a nice each-way bet.

Hungry Heart (Randwick Race 5 No. 2):
This Frankel filly is the early favourite in the Group 1 Flight Stakes over 1400m. As a two-year-old she won the Group 2 Sweet Embrace Stakes before 5th in the Golden Slipper. She has had two starts since resuming and has been beaten by Dame Giselle in both the Group 2 Furious Stakes over 1200m on 5 September and the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes over 1400m on 19 September. I think that filly can beat her again here.
