Tails Stakes 2023 Race Details
Race 8 at Doomben Racecourse on Saturday the 22nd of April 2023.
The Tails Stakes is a Listed race held at Doomben Racecourse and is run over 1615 metres. It is for horses aged three-years-old and older and is run under quality handicap conditions. The total prize money is $160,000 this year.

Tails Stakes 2023 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Fine
Open affair. Santero comes up favourite. Will need luck from the draw but racing very well and can make it a hat trick here. Dune Forty Five should be in the mix but will also need luck from the draw. Cuban Royale has the class to surprise these while Tumbler Ridge can be hard to catch but goes right in the mix. Skyman looks suited to this trip and will be hard to hold out.
Tails Stakes 2023 Runner by Runner
1. Skyman (3)
Already a winner 2nd up, 1/1 on this track and likes dry ground. Ticks boxes and flies over this trip. Hard to beat with the kind map. Has a bit going for it.
2. Yonkers (10)
Classy galloper that is set to improve here 2nd up. Keep safe.
3. Cepheus (9)
Maps tricky but no luck last start and finds the right race to bounce back in. Must respect.
4. Desert Icon (12)
Can’t have.
5. New Mandate (7)
Hoped for a bit more fresh but didn’t have much luck. No jockey booked, may not be running here but good hope if it does.
6. London Banker (14)
Tough draw but always improves out in trip and later on in the prep. Can win but needs a bit to go right.
7. Tumbler Ridge (8)
Hard horse to catch but has claims if it slots in from the draw. More the place chance than the win but capable of bobbing up in a race like this.
8. Aramayo (5)
Hasn’t shown its best for a while.
9. Wapiti (1)
Prefer others.
10. Master Jamie (6)
Tough war horse that will land on the speed and give a good sight. Chance if ridden positively.
11. Cuban Royale (2)
Has the NSW form and good enough to bob up in a race of this calibre. Good draw and good jockey, in the mix.
12. Wild Chap (15)
Wants it to rain.
13. Irish Playboy (4)
Prefer others.
14. Dune Forty Five (13)
Racing in good fashion. Tricky draw but can’t knock winning form. Has to slot in from 13 but in the mix if it can.
15. Santero (11)
Flying this prep. Has been up a while but weighted well and can give a sight despite the bad draw. Hard to beat.
