A hotly contested race for the three-year-olds with the market being headed by Artzino who has Damien Oliver in the saddle and found plenty last start to score. Mr Maestro beat a few of these home and sits on the next line of betting. Major Beel will be employing the same front running tactics and will give these something to chase while Kapakiri is still a maiden but wasn’t far away from Mr Maestro last run and natural progression can see it in the finish. There isn’t a heap of speed in this race.

1. Mr Maestro (6)

Beat a few of these home, sees the same track and trip and Damian Lane sticks in the saddle. Plenty of boxes ticked however getting off a heavy track and back onto drier ground is the only niggle. Major player.

2. Major Beel (5)

Has 3 lengths to find on the favourite and a 1kg weight swing. The amount of progression between runs can bridge the gap on some of these. Major Beel will likely be employing the usual Waterhouse-Bott front running tactics and will prove hard to run down if it gets its own way up front.

3. Red Sun Sensation (7)

Hit the line well behind Major Beel and should be suited by the rise in trip. It maps to stalk its back and does look very well suited at 1800. Hard to beat.

4. Artzino (11)

Artzino was well tried on debut and came out last start and stamped its self as a force to be reckoned with showing a nice finishing burst. The 1800 should be suitable but Damien Oliver will need some luck from the draw.

5. Grand Pierro (4)

Won well last start but harder here. Prefer others.

6. Sir Torobeel (9)

This looks too tough.

7. Makalu (1)

Won well in a handy maiden. Inclined to respect any market moves.

8. Dream Hour (8)

Interesting runner who savaged the line first up back from a break and won with authority. The form didn’t stand up with the horse it beat not running a place since but to the eye the win was excellent. Can win.

9. Kapakiri (2)

Comes through the same race as plenty of these and has to find 2 lengths on Mr Maestro. The amount of natural progression is the key here in a wide open race and drawn nicely to give this a shake.

11. Cadazio (13)

Superb debut before an average run last start. Can bounce back in this and Jamie Kah steering is ideal. Barrier 13 will require some luck but this is a winnable race and the $8.50 seems a large price in this field.

12. Berardino (15)

Running well and should be highly suited by the 1800. The stable are going well and Ben Melham sticking is a very solid sign.

13. Bring The Broom (14)

Can’t have.

14. Kings Crossing (10)

This looks too tough.

15. Pavitra (12)

Continues to win and thats the right kind of form for this race. No jockey booked at this stage and barrier 12 isn’t ideal but has to be hard to beat with the picket fence.
