Rising Fast Stakes 2023 Race Details

Race 4 at Flemington Racecourse on Saturday the 4th November 2023.

The Rising Fast is a 1200 metre open handicap race run by the Victorian Racing Club in late October. It is held at Flemington on Victoria Derby Day as part of the Melbourne Cup Carnival. The total prizemoney this year is $200,000.

Rising Fast Stakes 2023 Preview

Track: Good Weather: Fine

Twelve have accepted for Rising Fast Stakes. The current favourite is Triple Missile. He ran well here first up, was second in this race last year and gets a big jockey change with James McDonald going on. Spacewalk resumed a gelding at the start of this prep and has been very good in both starts this time in. Chain Of Lightning was another who was good first up. The remaining runners are longer than $10-1.

1. Rocketing By

Is getting deep into his campaign now. Happy to risk.

2. Chain Of Lightning

Good quality mare who was strong late first up. Strips fitter here and has to be an each way chance here.

3. Gravina

Godolphin mare. Resumes with the blinkers on and Mark Zahra in the saddle. Wouldn’t be surprised to see her run a race fresh.

4. It’sourtime

Ran a good race here in the Bobbie Lewis, and the run was better than the form guide suggests in the Sydney Stakes when getting too far back on a tricky day to make ground. Loves the straight and can run well here with Shinn in the saddle.

5. Triple Missile

Was second in this race last year. Ran a cracking race first up behind Star Patrol. That performance rated very strongly, fitter now and gets Jmac. Top pick.

6. Crosshaven

Resumes. Prefer him at 1400m.

7. Spacewalk

Big win first up against easier company then looked all over the winner at Caulfield and somehow got beat. Has raced well down the straight in the past.

8. General Beau

Was well fancied first up at Caulfield and was slightly underwhelming there.

9. C’est Magique

Ran well here two back behind Star Patrol and Triple Missile. Was an alarming drifter in the betting last start and ran accordingly. Could pay to forgive.

10. Najem Suhail

Outclassed.

11. Cause For Concern

Duel acceptor in the last race on the program. He loves Flemington and I thought his run last start was pretty good at Caulfield. Not without a chance if they run here.

12. Garza Blanca

Comes down from Sydney. Has been competitive up there in easier races. Does get a nice drop in weight here.
