Race 5 at Flemington Racecourse on Saturday the 4th of November 2023.

The Wakeful Stakes is a Group 2 race held at Flemington Racecourse and is run over 2000 metres. It is for fillies aged three-years-old and is run under set weights and penalties conditions. The total prize money is $300,000 this year.

Wakeful Stakes 2023 Preview

Track: Good Weather: Fine

All eyes on Zardozi who will take a stack of beating in this. Superb winner last start and looks very hard to beat in this moderate field. Harlow Mist has the runs on the board and is trending the right way. Gets the very in form Shinn in the saddle. Amazonian Lass has a tough draw but good racing pattern and goes in the mix as well. Tempo looks moderate.

Got the run last start and was dominant. This race looks no harder, J-mac does the steering and it looks very hard to go past. Bullish on its chances and has time to find a spot from the draw.

Out of form jockey aboard but Konasana is having a solid prep. Maps well and can give the favourite something to think about.

4. Harlow Mist (1)

Racing well and gets the extremely in form Shinn in the saddle. Maps to do no work from the draw and while I have my doubts on the form this race still does look well within reach.

5. Amazonian Lass (12)

Can push forward in a race lacking much depth. Clark is in good form and if able to get cheap sectionals up front it can pinch this race.

6. Sentimental Flame (7)

Rises in trip and may be suited by that. Respect any market moves.

7. Subrising (8)

Looks primed for this trip and will be hitting the line hard. May struggle with the lack of tempo in this but has claims.

8. Diamonds Choice (4)

Hard to have.

9. Zambezi Khan (11)

Prefer others.

10. Aethelflaed (14)

Good win last start and will enjoy this trip. Needs luck from the draw but goes in the mix and is the value of the race.

Can’t have.

12. Bon Mistress (6)

Having a good prep and drawn to have every hope from there. Place chance and needs to find a length or two to be winning.
