Moomba Plate – 2022

Track: Good   Weather: Fine

A competitive race that sees Remarque return off some very impressive trials and leads the market. The query remains on whether it has resolved its breathing issues but best efforts go extremely close against these. Gimmie Par creates plenty of intrigue from the Moody stable with form around Heresy. Zarastro brings in some Sydney form for Chris Waller and General Beau looks to get a really good set-up coming off its last run when caught wide with no luck.

1. General Beau (8)

Certainly a chance. Showed good promise last prep & Damien Lane back aboard is a plus.

2. Remarque (10)

Suited with the rise in trip and brings in a likeable form line. Good hope at each-way odds.

3. Crystal Bound (12)

Good chance and likeable running pattern. Lands on the speed and fights all day.

4. Flying Evelyn (11)

Back to Flemington and on a good track are big ticks. Looks like a good hope but barrier 1 does make for a tricky map so the gaps will need to open for it.

5. Mynumerouno (6)

Smart return and likely to improve off that. Maps nicely and 2/2 on good tracks.

6. Gimmie Par (5)

Creates intrigue and has a good will to chase and win. 2 career wins from 4 runs but the 2 misses were at Flemington so that remains some query.

7. Glistening (3)

Outstanding trial but would like to see market support for it. Does map kindly so has to be some hope.

8. Zarastro (4)

Loaded with upside and very likeable from the good draw and coming from the Waller stable. Has been scratched quite a bit so I’m respecting the placement by Waller in this.

9. Lloyd’s Crown (7)

A likeable first-up win and dropping in the weights is ideal. Meech is excellent on front runners and has a good chance here.

10. Tycoon Humma (1)

Back to its best last run but doubt that form holds up. Can run into a place but couldn’t find room for it in my top 4.

11. Hunnam (2)

Tricky to catch but does have talent when fit and right to go. At the moment deserves the long quote and others hold more appeal.

12. Picarones (9)

Overdue for a win and doesn’t look to be at its best, happy to avoid.
