2022 Ajax Stakes Race Details
Race 4 at Rosehill on Saturday 12th March 2022.
The Ajax Stakes is a Group 2 1500 metre quality race for the three-year-old’s and upwards run by the Australian Turf Club in March with the winner being exempt from ballot and penalty for the 2022 Doncaster Mile. It is run at Rosehill during the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

Ajax Stakes 2022 Preview
Track: Heavy Weather: Mostly Fine with a chance of a shower.
Eight runners have accepted for the $200,000 Group 2 Ajax Stakes with one early scratching, taking the entries to seven. The Chris Waller camp are saddling up two runners whilst every other trainer just has the one entry.
The early favourite is the Ryan/Alexiou trained Ellsberg who led and controlled proceedings in the Liverpool City Cup at Randwick last start. Tim Clark rated the son of Spill The Beans well, saluting by almost four lengths in heavy conditions. Brutality is next in the betting and he was the horse that finished almost four lengths off Ellsberg last start. He does get a 2.5kg weight swing in his favour and will appreciate the extra distance.
Joshua Julius has sent Just Folk north from Melbourne in search of the wet conditions, which he will get here. He is next in the betting behind Ellsberg and Brutality.

Goes well second-up, loves the wet, loves the track and distance. Looks to get an easy lead unless Blue Soldier kicks up. One to beat!

Meets Ellsberg 2.5kg better off from last start. Will appreciate the step up in distance and is drawn well.
3. Just Folk (1)
Gets the wet ground here. Has performed well in similar grade previously. Drawn well. Chance.
4. Atishu (7)

She was plain last start behind Forbidden Love in the Guy Walter. She can improve up in distance.
6. Blue Soldier (5)
Second-up after running third to Ellsberg and Brutality last start. Meets Ellsberg 1.5kg better at the weights. Can’t have.
7. Wairere Falls (4)
He is fighting fit, coming into this fifth-up. Hardest he has faced in career but is coming off a brilliant run behind Silent Agenda. Each-way chance.
8. Jalmari (6)
Outclassed.
