Chief De Beers – 2022

Track: Heavy Weather: Wet

Contemptuous heads the market and is a prolific winner looking for 5 straight. Neidorp just needs the track to dry out a little to make this a real contest, while Simply Fly tends to peak around this time of its preparations and looks a good hope at double figures. Good speed in this with Doctor Zous and Winside going forward and both of them are solid chances.

1. Shelby Sixtysix (13)

Terribly over raced lately, needs a break. Gets heavy footing and hard to beat but concerned about how long it has been up this prep and form has tapered off terribly.

2. Greyworm (8)

Does go well 3rd up and best form beats this lot. Keep an eye on the market.

3. Neidorp (6)

Neidorp is the best value in this race. Excellent trial, is a bomb fresh and just needs the track to dry out a little to be very hard to beat in this field. I am expecting it to firm.

4. Boomtown Lass (5)

Has been poor lately in weaker races than this however does enjoy this track and trip and best efforts can win this race. Keep an eye on the market.

5. Doctor Zous (9)

Likes give in the ground and has an ideal racing pattern. Hard to beat if finding the front and can set a good tempo for these. Major player.

6. Archer’s Pardox (14)  – SCRATCHED

7. Contemptuous (15)

This one is an absolute winner and knows where the line is. Shooting for 5 straight and nothing to suggest that can’t happen despite the wide draw.

8. Simply Fly (4)

Not a great record at Doomben and has been very inconsistent of late. Heavy ground is a massive help for Simply Fly and does peak 4th up with a very strong record at this time of its prep. Can win but does need to lift on form.

9. Colpo Di Tamburo (10)

Looks too tough.

10. Sir Warwick (1)  – SCRATCHED

11. Centrefire (3)

Perfect map for Centrefire who can find the box seat and should enjoy the heavy conditions. Solid chance in this.

12. More Sundays (11)

Has to lift on form but does have a very good turn of foot when right. Keep an eye on the market but at the moment a little hard to have on form.

13. Winside (16)

Back to the 1100 suits for Winside who has not missed the placings from 3 attempt over the trip. Honest operator who just can not seem to draw a gate but should be there in the finish.

14. Joy Too All (2)

Has plenty of upside, my one query is 4 career wins from 6 starts with its only 2 losses at this track. Otherwise, very hard to fault and maps well with an in form William Pike in the saddle.

16. Kosciusko (7)

Can’t have.
