David Coles AM Stakes – 2022

Twelve runners have accepted for the $127,250 Group 3 David Coles AM Stakes and there have been no early scratchings. The Richard Jolly stable has three entries into the race, the Jon O’Connor stable have two runners entered for the event whilst every other trainer has just one entry each.

See You In Heaven has opened the early favourite for the race after back-to-back wins in the Dequetteville Stakes and Breeders Stakes. Aitch Two Oh met See You In Heaven two runs back and ran second before coming out and winning her next start in the Without Fear Stakes.

Miss Dunsford rounds out the top three in the betting after running third to Twin Stars in the Sires Produce Stakes just one week ago.

Lost a plate in the Without Fear Stakes but still didn’t show enough to warrant being a major chance.

2. Maximillius (6)

Showed little so far, will need to improve.

3. Abrupt (3)

Debut runner. Watch the market.

4. See You In Heaven (1)

Going for three-in-a-row and is the class of this race. Drawn beautifully and looks hard to beat.

5. Aitch Two Oh (12)

Good win last start but gets no relief against favourite from their meeting two back and has drawn the widest. Place chance.

6. Miss Dunsford (11)

Winkers on first time, quick back up. Drawn poorly here. Will be hitting the line late.

7. Prairie Flower (2)

Ran solidly behind Aitch Two Oh in the Without Fear Stakes. Will need to improve. Place chance.

8. Celtic Vader (9)

Needs to improve.

9. Portray (8)

Coming off a nice win at Cranbourne in a maiden race. Could surprise.

10. Startide (7)

Can’t have.

11. As Time Goes By (4)

Debut for a nice stable and has J Kah engaged. Watch the market.

12. Grey River (5)

Outclassed.
