Race 5 at Moonee Valley Racecourse on Friday the 27th October 2023.
The Chautauqua Stakes is a Listed 1200 metre handicap race run by the Moonee Valley Racing Club in late August or early September. It is held at Moonee Valley as part of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival. The total prizemoney this year is $175,000.

Track: Good Weather: Fine
The Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman mare She Dances is all the rage in the Chautauqua Stakes coming off a good win last start at Group 3 level. Ranting and Helix are on the drift early.
Chautauqua Stakes 2023 Runner by Runner
1. Lombardo
Loved the jump out prior to a solid first up showing in the Group 2 Schillaci behind some quality horses. Course and distance winner and drawn well. Chance.
2. Ranges
Resumes. Was competitive with out winning at this level last prep. The booking of B Shinn shows some intent here first up!
3. She Dances
Well backed favourite in early betting. I really liked what she did last prep. Forgive first up when wide in a fast run race. Spiked big time off that to win the Northwood Plume last start. Low draw, on speed, Linda Meech. Tick, tick, tick. Should be hard to beat.
4. Outlaws Revenge
Won the Wangoom at the Bool in May. Too bad to be true first up. Has some ratings from the middle of the year that would see him competitive here.
5. Ranting
Got the gap at a key stage last start here and looked impressive to the eye bursting through. The clock is saying be wary of that form.
6. Semilion
Looked to have all favours from the front in the race that Ranting won last start. Prefer others.
7. Helix
Like the horse but was surprised to see him come up $4.80. Had total control in an easier race last start and doesn’t appear suited coming back to 1200m.
8. Rolling Moss
Outclassed.
