2021 Tramway Stakes Race Details
Race 7 at Randwick on Saturday 4 September 2021.
The Tramway Stakes is a 1400 metre set weights plus penalties race run by the Australian Turf Club at Randwick. It is held during early September at the start of the Sydney Spring Racing Carnival.

Tramway Stakes 2021 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Fine
There is a field of 10 runners for the $200,000 Tramway Stakes and five of them will be having their first-up run from a spell. Four will be second-up with two of them having resumed in the Group 1 Winx Stakes and the other two in the Group 3 Show County Quality. The other runner is third-up. John O’Shea and Chris Waller both have two runners each.
The early favourite is three-year-old Zaaki who has won his last three starts in a row all by big margins, and resumes from a 12 week break. Second favourite is Dreamforce who has won this race in 2019 and 2021, and comes off 3,3 lengths 11th in the Winx Stakes last start. Third favourite is Rock who resumed for 2.9 lengths 8th in the Show County.
Lion’s Roar has four wins from his 10 starts including a strong win in the 2021 Randwick Guineas. Prime Star resumed for 1.7 lengths 5th in the Show County. Star Of The Seas resumed for 4.9 lengths 13th in the Winx Stakes and won the Group 2 Blamey Stakes back in February. Shout The Bar has four wins from her 13 starts, including two Group 1 wins, while All Saints’ Eve has four wins from 15 starts. The other two runners are currently 25 to 1 or longer.
2021 Tramway Stakes Runner by Runner
1. Zaaki
Currently favourite for the Cox Plate. Won his last three starts in a row all by big margins during the Queensland Winter Carnival including the Group I Doomben Cup, and resumes from a 12 week break.
2. Dreamforce
Has won this race in 2019 and 2021, and comes off 3,3 lengths 11th in the Winx Stakes last start. Will probably lead and be tough to run down.
3. Lion’s Roar
One of two runners for John O’Shea he has four wins from his 10 starts including a strong win in the 2021 Randwick Guineas. Resumes from a 19 week spell.
4. Shout The Bar
Has four wins from her 13 starts, including two Group 1 wins
5. Star Of The Seas
One of two runners for Chris Waller he resumed for 4.9 lengths 13th in the Winx Stakes and won the Group 2 Blamey Stakes back in February.
6. Rock
Resumed for 2.9 lengths 8th in the Show County. A good horse who doesn’t seem to like this track.
7. Man Of Peace
Finished 1.9 lengths 5th last start at Kembla Grange but has very strong form at Randwick.
8. Prime Star
Resumed for 1.7 lengths 5th in the Show County and generally improves second up.
9. Aramayo
Returns from an 11 week let-up and doesn’t take many to get going. Won two recent trials.
10. All Saints’ Eve
Has four wins from 15 starts and resumes from a 17 week spell.
