Furious Stakes – 2021

There are 15 runners remaining for the $290,000 Furious Stakes following the early scratchings of Larkspur Run and Lovemetender. Four of the runners had their last start in the Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes held two weeks ago on 21 August, and four of them are resuming from a spell. Three of the fillies are sired by Snitzel and another three are sired by I Am Invincible. Training combination Gerald Ryan & Sterling Alexiou have four of the runners.

The betting is very open and early favouritism is shared between three of the runners.  Four Moves Ahead resumed from a 19 week spell to finish 0.7 length 3rd in the Silver Shadow Stakes. Najmaty resumed for 1.75 lengths 4th in the Quezette Stakes after being held up, and She’s All Class hasn’t raced since finishing 0.3 lengths 2nd in the Group 2 Sweet Embrace Stakes in February.

Swift Witness resumed with a 0.4 length win in the Silver Shadow.  De An Andretti has only had one start for a win in a Hawkesbury maiden and has won two Randwick trials in August. Jamaea finished 1.2 lengths 4th in the Silver Shadow, while Mallory finished 1.8 lengths 5th.  All other runners are currently 20 to 1 or longer.

One of three fillies sired by Snitzel in the race (the others are Joyous Legend and Yearning). Resumed from a 19 week spell to finish 0.7 length 3rd in the Silver Shadow Stakes. and should figure in the finish

2. Swift Witness

Resumed with a 0.4 length win in the Silver Shadow and should go well.

3. Jamaea

Finished 1.2 lengths 4th in the Silver Shadow when first-up and can improve.

4. She’s All Class

One of three fillies sired by I Am Invincible in the race (the others are Najmaty and De An Andretti). Hasn’t raced since finishing 0.3 lengths 2nd in the Group 2 Sweet Embrace Stakes in February. Could surprise.

5. Mallory

One of four runners for Gerald Ryan & Sterling Alexiou. Finished 1.8 lengths 5th in the Silver Shadow and could place

6. Robodira

Resumes from a 25 week spell and blinkers come off for the first time.

7. Najmaty

Resumed for 1.75 lengths 4th in the Quezette Stakes after being held up. Has won two of her four starts.

8. Joyous Legend

Resumes from spell of 20 weeks and has won two recent trials.

9. Larkspur Run  – SCRATCHED

10. Enterprise Pomme

Two races for a win and a place and has won two recent trails. Could surprise.

11. Lovemetender  – SCRATCHED

12. De An Andretti

Has only had one start for a win in a Hawkesbury maiden and has won two Randwick trials in August.

13. Ruby Kisses

Won a maiden at Goulburn last start. This is a huge rise in class.

14. Wolves

Still a maiden after six starts.

15. Yearning

Has placed once from three starts. Appears tested.
