There is a field of 14 runners for the $250,000 Chelmsford Stakes and six of them are resuming from a spell. Four runners resumed in the Group 1 Winx Stakes on 21 August, two came through the Listed Rowley Mile at Hawkesbury on 19 August and the other two came through the Spring Preview handicap at Kemble Grange on 14 August. Chris Waller has five runners and Bjorn Baker has two.

In the early betting, the first three in the market all ran in the Winx Stakes. The early favourite is six-year-old  Cascadian who resumed for 0.5 lengths 5th in the Winx Stakes. Second favourite is Think It Over who resumed for 0.7 lengths 6th in the Winx Stakes. Third favourite is She’s Ideel who resumed for 0.24 lengths 2nd in the Winx Stakes

Kukeracha resumed for 0.36 length 2nd in the Rowley Mile at Hawkesbury. Shared Ambition resumes from a 15 week spell, has a good first-up record and has placed in three recent trials. Montefilia has four wins from 12 starts, including two Group 1 wins. Master Of Wine resumed for 2.5 lengths 10th in the Winx Stakes, while Order Again finished 2.3 lengths 7th in the Spring Preview at Kembla Grange last start.  All other runners are currently 25 to 1 or longer.

Resumed for 0.7 lengths 6th in the Winx Stakes. A key chance.

2. Cascadian

Resumed for 0.5 lengths 5th in the Winx Stakes and gets out to his best distance. Should be in the finish.

3. Nancho

Having his first start in Australia and hasn’t raced for 95 weeks. Prefer to see.

4. Shared Ambition

One of four runners for Chris Waller. Resumes from a 15 week spell, has a good first-up record and has placed in three recent trials. Can place.

5. Dashing Willoughby

Not started since running 21st in the 2020 Melbourne Cup. Prefer to see.

6. Master Of Wine

Resumed for 2.5 lengths 10th in the Winx Stakes,

7. Selino

Resumes after a 20 week spell and has won one from five when fresh.

8. Attorney

Ran second at Randwick when last first-up. Not the worst.

9. Order Again

Finished 2.3 lengths 7th in the Spring Preview at Kembla Grange last start.

10. Fun Fact

One of two runners for Bjorn Baker. Goes well at the distance.

11. Riodini

Ran 5th in the Rowley Mile at Hawkesbury. Blinkers go back on.

12. Kukeracha

Resumed for 0.36 length 2nd in the Rowley Mile at Hawkesbury. Rates well with James McDonald riding.

13. She’s Ideel

One of two mares in the race, she resumed for 0.24 lengths 2nd in the Winx Stakes. Goes well at this track and is one of the chances.

14. Montefilia

She has four wins from 12 starts, including two Group 1 wins. Resumes from a 20 week spell.
