Queensland Oaks – 2022

Track: Good Weather: Fine

Excellent race for the fillies and a tight bunched market. Gypsy Goddess leads betting with William Pike sticking solid but he will need to be producing some magic from barrier 22. Barb Raider is on the quick back up and was tough last week. She should be on the speed giving a sight. Glint Of Hope has been racing extremely well, Aravene was mighty impressive last start & Belle Savoir is in the mix after chasing home Barb Raider last weekend. Little between these and expecting good tempo in the race.

1. Barb Raider (11)

Tough win las weekend. Will land on the speed and give backers a good sight. Certainly in the mix and knows where the line is.

2. Gypsy Goddess (22)

Continually very well supported in the market and was backed as soon as they opened. Needs a stack of luck from the draw but Pike sticks and if it can find some cover and be presented at the right time it will be hitting the line hard. Any luck in running and its my clear top pick for this.

3. Glint Of Hope (14)

Fantastic ride last start and win. Has been a while between runs but sure to have been kept up to the mark and with luck from the draw can be in the finish again.

4. Biscayne Bay (12)

Always respecting the stable at these staying races. Has been a little costly to follow thus far but is in the mix.

5. Mokulua (5)

Too hard to catch lately and needs to find some consistency with form. Can’t have.

6. Honeycreeper (20)

Probably wants a wet track but has to be in the mix off recent runs. Drawn out wide like many of its rivals and needs luck in running but can win.

7. Gin Martini (10)

Seems well over the odds and overlooked by markets. Likes to land on the speed and draws better than a lot of its rivals. Key hope at very good odds.

8. Festival Dancer (19)

Not hopeless but needs to lift on form to take this out and gets no favours with the draw.

9. Dynasties (15)

Poor last run but hit the line extremely well the start prior. J-Mac will be weaving from barrier 15 and this race is well within its reach.

10. Verona (21)

No jockey booked as of yet. Tough draw like a lot of chances in this race but always respecting the stable over this trip and has to be in the mix.

11. Belle Savoir (17)

Has been absolutely rock solid and brings in form around Barb Raider. Tricky draw but has the right formlines and is a player for top 4.

12. Aravene (6)

Aravene was very impressive last start and is drawn well which gives it a key advantage in this race. This is a step up in grade but given the draw it does look the one to beat in this race at handy odds.

13. Charity Spirit (23)  – SCRATCHED

14. Smirk (16)

Can’t be dismissed and just peaked on the run last start. Won’t be easy from the draw but can win.

15. Teranga (7)

Has been racing well and will be suited by this trip. Good hope.

16. Le Villi (2)

Barrier 2 is very ideal for Le Villi and it will be doing no work in the run. If Tim Clark can find a prominent spot just off the pace it can stalk the speed and run over the top of these.

17. Rosie Impact (13)

Can’t have.

18. Nom De Plume (1)

This looks too tough.

19. Cupid’s Kiss (8)

Too tricky.

20. Nyota (9)

Can’t have.

21. Pioneer Lass (3)

Filling the numbers.

22. Chayse ‘N’ Tanya (18)

Can’t have.

23. Savagal (4)

Going well but this is a tough race. Keep an eye on any market moves.
