The Phoenix 2022 Race Details
Race 3 at Eagle Farm Racecourse on Saturday 4th June 2022.
The 2022 edition of The Phoenix is being held at Eagle Farm Racecourse and is run over 1500 metres. It is for the two-year-olds and is run under set weight conditions. The total prize money is $130,000.

The Phoenix 2022 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Fine
Cracking race that seems to be all about Political Debate who will launch from barrier 3 and take plenty of holding out. Dangers include Sharp ‘n’ Smart, West Of Africa and Liberty Steps. Ringmaster also creates interest from the wide draw, made hard work of it last start in a lesser grade but has plenty of upside and can give this a shake.
The Phoenix 2022 Runner by Runner
1. Liberty Steps (5)
Suited by the rise in trip and should be landing in a plum spot from the draw. Can play a role in the finish and has done nothing wrong to date.
2. Mishani Spartan (1)
This looks too tough.
3. Heroic Son (10)
Showed plenty of promise early days but has been a little disappointing of late. Has to lift.
4. Sandpaper (6)
Going along well enough and should be suited by the drying ground. Can take this race out at healthy odds.
5. Sharp ‘n’ Smart (11)
Market should play a role with this import. Will require luck from barrier 11 and needs to be smart to be beating the favourite but does have a touch of class and upside.
6. Ringmaster (14)
In with a shout at odds. Made hard work of it in an easier race but has a mountain of upside, is still just putting it all together.
7. Four Mile Lane (9)
Can’t have.
8. Fearless Knight (13)
Needs to lift to beat the favourite.
9. Dark Harmony (2)
Has talent but this does look a tricky race. Launches from the good draw and is a top 4 hope at odds.
10. Political Debate (3)
All about this one. Should be too good for these and the only query is the length between runs due to how wet the tracks have been. Comes up with the ideal draw, J-Mac engaged and should be sending punters off on a good note. Very hard to beat and anything better than odds on is a gift.
11. Mount Brilliant (7)
Can’t have.
12. West Of Africa (8)
Has talent but J-Mac off and I can see why, needs to be impressive to beat the favourite in this but isn’t without a chance.
13. Chayse ‘N’ Artie (12)
Likeable form and not hopeless at odds. Needs to find to beat the favourite but is a top 4 contender.
14. Sizzling Gal (4)
Can’t have.
