Lightning Handicap 2022 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Fine
Not much separating the first few in the market. Boomnova comes up favourite and should be setting a strong temp up front. Contemptuous is a winning machine and gets its chance again here. Garibaldi is suited by a dry deck and a major player while Esta La Roca can’t be overlooked bringing over some strong Victorian form.
Lightning Handicap 2022 Runner by Runner
1. Usmanov (1)
A bit overlooked by early markets. Has been racing well without much luck and comes up with a suitable drawn in barrier 1.
2. Esta La Roca (6)
Has the right form for this and was firing in Victoria. Likeable win last start and overall this race isn’t much harder.
3. Garibaldi (10)
Suited by a drying deck and despite the wide draw has plenty of talent and class. If we see the best version of Garibaldi it will likely be too good for these.
4. Doctor Zous (13)
Runs well fresh, just some query on the track with no wins from 5 goes. From the wide draw will need some luck in running. Keep an eye on the market.
5. Neidorp (2)
Has class and drawn to get the right run. Keep an eye on the market but do prefer the stablemate at this stage.
6. Archer’s Paradox (3)
Chance to run top 4 but couldn’t have in my numbers. Racing okay but this is a step up again in grade.
7. Contemptuous (5)
Winning machine and draws the perfect barrier to continue the picket fence. Some query with the jockey chance but Mcevoy is a star jockey and should be giving it every chance.
8. Gogol (7)
Has plenty of talent, barrier 7 is slightly awkward but this is a winnable race. Can run top 3 at healthy odds.
9. Boomnova (4)
Should land in the first few and give a sight out in front. Slightly under the odds given the amount of talent in this race but can certainly win.
10. Nimbostratus (11)
Can’t have.
11. Stoical (8)
Has improved drastically and been able to string good performances together. Major player.
12. Satin Ribbons (12) – SCRATCHED
13e. Kosciusko (9)
This looks too tough.
