Kembla Grange Classic – 2023

This lot may be running for 2nd if Razeta holds her form. She was 2 lengths off In Secret ( the current Newmarket Handicap favourite) fresh doing her best work through the line and carries 1kg here. Pavitra is the logical danger. She has loads of talent and gets in well at the weights. Pierossa has form around Fun Sunday which I can entertain here and is a Group 3 winner. Call Di was unlucky fresh and can run a bold race here, has strong claims. Polygon is a market watch coming over from NZ.

Market watch in this. Put 2 wins together in NZ and can give this race a shake but drawn a touch awkwardly in barrier 10. The market should tell the story late.

3. Pierossa (12)

Giving her a huge chance. Won a group 3 last prep and she will relish getting out to this trip. No problems with her form lines and like the win over Fun Sunday. Large claims with even luck in running.

5. Razeta (1)

I have her $2.00 favourite and I am not sure what I am missing. Very, very good past the line when running 2 lengths off In Secret fresh, another 1-200 metres in that race and she goes top 3. 2nd up was continually boxed in and didn’t get much room to move but still only beaten by 3 lengths in a group 1. Given she carries 1kg less here for chasing In Secret I think she is a near good thing. Does no work from barrier 1 and Gibbons on is the cherry on top. Marked $2.00.

6. Pavitra (8)

Just fair fresh but hard to ignore the 2nd to She’s Extreme which would win this race. I think she will be more effective over further and will need some luck in running but is the class of the race. Danger to the top selection.

7. Call Di (7)

Very unlucky fresh in a high rating race. Oliver off is a bonus but does look well found in markets and whether its last start form holds up with that of Pavitra and Razeta remains a query.

8. So Dazzling (6)

Never likely fresh in a trip short of its best. Suited over further but can run a cheeky race here.

9. Infinitive (14)

Solid win last start but needs to rise another level to take this out. Respect any market moves.

10. Whisky Wisdom (15)

Can’t have.

11. Marigold’s Dream (9)

This looks too tough.

12. Petersham (5)

Quality win last start. Hard to knock how the stable is going but will need to rise a few grades here to take this out. Market loves it, will need to find a few lengths to be winning but is in the right stable to do so.
