Jungle Dawn Classic 2023 Preview

Track: Good   Weather: Fine

There is a field of 12 mares for the $125,000 Jungle Dawn Classic with eight four-year-olds, two five-year-olds and a nine-year-old. Eight runners had their last start in the Listed Jungle Mist Classic over 1200m at Ascot on 18th November, while the rest came via different races. Two runners are sired by Playing God and two by Universal Ruler. Trainer Stephen Miller has 2 runners.

The early favourite is Duchess Of Gossip who resumed after 14 weeks for 3rd in the Jungle Mist. Second favourite is Rusty Dreams who ran 4th in the Jungle Mist after a few problems in the running. Third favourite is Amber Glide who was the winner of the Jungle Mist giving her 4 consecutive wins. Baby Paris only beat one runner home in that race after being wide throughout. The other runners are currently $14 or longer.

2023 Jungle Dawn Classic Runner by Runner

1. Baby Paris (3)

One of 2 runners sired by Playing God (the other is Goddess Of Giving). She only beat one runner home in the Listed Jungle Mist Classic over 1200m at Ascot on 18th November after being wide throughout. Although she has won 6 of her 13 starts her last 2 runs have been ordinary. Prefer in the 1000-1200m range.

2. Jadavi (9)

This 9YO is the oldest runner this year. Has placed in 2 of her 3 runs this preparation and won a recent trial. Prefer over further, but not the worst.

3. Goddess Of Giving (12)

Came from well back for 5th in the Jungle Mist. Drawn the outside barrier and is a rough place chance.

4. Rusty Dreams (5)

One of 2 runners sired by Universal Ruler (the other is Penny on The Queen). She ran 4th in the Jungle Mist after a few problems in the running, including mis-striding approaching the turn and blundering near the 500m. She was found to have an elevated heart rate. Chance providing she is back to her best.

5. Amber Glide (10)

Won the Jungle Mist to make it 4 consecutive wins, including 2 at this track and distance combination. Strong chance.

6. Valency (6)

Finished 0.3 length 2nd to Amber Glide in the Jungle Mist, at long odds. Capable mare who could surprise.

7. Duchess Of Gossip (2)

Resumed after 14 weeks for 3rd in the Jungle Mist after being held up from the turn to the 100m and flying home. William Pike sticks and she is one of the major chances.

8. Penny On The Queen (1)

She was slowly away in the Jungle Mist and made some ground late. Prefer others.

9. Black Spirit (8)

One of 2 runner trained by Stephen Miller (the other is Pearly Nuggett).  Led all the way to win last start over 1600m at Ascot. Place chance.

10. Fine Touch (11)

Won 2 in a row at Belmont before being outkicked late and finishing 0.7 length 3rd over 1800m at Ascot. Can surprise.

11. Deetea (7)

Battled on for 10th in the Jungle Mist. Looking to others.

12. Pearly Nuggett (4)

Has finished midfield at both starts this preparation. This looks too hard.
