Race 9 at Rosehill Racecourse on Saturday the 2nd of December 2023.
The Christmas Cup is a Listed race held at Rosehill Racecourse and is run over 2400 metres. It is run under quality handicap conditions and is for horses aged three-years-old and older. The total prize money is $200,000 this year.

Christmas Cup 2023 Preview
Track: Soft Weather: Fine
This looks Sky Lab’s race to lose. I was keen on him a fortnight ago and sat way too far off them but ripped home in good fashion. Beat a lot of these home and had the measure of the rest. Looks the clear one to beat. Stockman comes into play if the rain arrives. Serpentine can piunch it from the front if allowed to roll along while Little Mix brings in the different form and should prove hard to beat.
Christmas Cup 2023 Runner by Runner
1. Sky Lab (6)
Should have won last start but the run was left too late. Same set up here and just needs to settle handier to prove very hard to beat. Bullish of its chances in this field and looks a very back-able price.
2. Serpentine (7)
Will be able to pinch this from the front if left alone. Is a good on pace runner that can stay and the stable produce them very well. Danger to Sky Lab and is over the odds.
3. Stockman (9)
Has a few lengths to find to be beating Sky Lab but will come into play if it rains.
4. Torrens (8)
Won this race last year. Beat home Sky Lab last run but can’t see it doing the same in this. Prefer others.
5. Kukeracha (3)
Needs to lift but will enjoy the conditions and drop in grade. Keep an eye on the market.
6. Parry Sound (1)
Capable but hard runner to catch. Will get a good run and is good enough to win this but does mix form.
7. Dark Dream (4)
Going along okay and gets Gibbons doing the steering from the good draw. Not hopeless.
8. Andalus (5)
Sound last start and should get a dream run from barrier 5. This race is within reach.
9. Little Mix (10)
Brings in different form and knows where the line is. Goes in the mix but leaning to others.
10. Pesto (12)
Can’t have.
11. Dreamflight (2)
This looks too tough.
12. I’m A Dirty Rascal (11)
Can’t have.
