There are 13 runners for the Eurythmic Stakes this year. There are 12 geldings and one mare with one 4YO, two 5YOs, three 6YOs, five 7YOs and two 8YOs. Five runners had their last start in the Listed Black Heart Bart Stakes over 1200m at Belmont 3 weeks ago, while the rest came via different races. Six are resuming. Betting is quite open. The early favourite is Valour Road who resumed after over a year with a win in the Listed Idyllic Prince Stakes over 1300m at Belmont on 26th August. Second favourite is Phanta who has 2 wins and 2 places from 4 starts this preparation. Third favourite is Trix Of The Trade who resumes after 27 week, has great first-up stats and loves Ascot. Comfort Me resumes and has been trialling well. Bustler is also resuming and has 6 wins from 11 starts, while Karli’s Karma finished 2.7 lengths 6th in the Jolly Beggar Stakes on soft going. The other runners are currently $15 or longer.

1. Trix Of The Trade (9)

One of 2 runners sired by Trade Fair (the other is Startrade). He resumes after 27 weeks, has great first-up stats and loves Ascot. In the mix.

2. Massimo (1)

This 7YO has placed in this race for the last 3 years – he was 3rd in 2022, 2nd in 2021 and 3rd in 2020. He is one of 3 runners from the Chris & Michael Gangemi stable and has drawn the inside barrier. This is his best distance. Back from a 24 week spell and forward showing no surprise.

3. Marocchino (8)

Stayer resuming from a 32 week break. Will be heading for longer races. Not the worst.

4. Valour Road (6)

Resumed after over a year with a win in the Listed Idyllic Prince Stakes over 1300m at Belmont on 26th August. He carries 1.5kg less here and looks to be one of the main chances.

5. Startrade (13)

One of 2 runners for Daniel Morton (the other is Weaponson). He ended last campaign well with a win in the Group 3 Hyperion Stakes then a 2nd in the Group 3 Strickland Stakes. Resumed from a 16 week spell for 8th in the Black Heart Bart but generally needs his first-up run. Rough place chance.

6. Bustler (10)

One of 3 runners sired by Playing God (the others are God Has Chosen and Comfort Me). Resuming from a 21 week spell and has 6 wins from 11 starts. Goes well fresh and finishes strongly. Winning chance.

7. God Has Chosen (5)

Had 5 runs last campaign and always finished towards the back of the field. Prefer others.

8. Phanta (2)

In great form with 2 wins and 2 places from 4 starts this preparation Finished a close 2nd in the Black Heart Bart last outing after 3rd in the Listed Idyllic Prince Stakes on 26th August and wins in the Belmont Newmarket and the Listed H.G. Bolton Sprint. Leading contender.

9. Weaponson (7)

Finished 5th in the Black Heart Bart following 10 lengths last in the Nicopolis Stakes. Prefer others.

10. River Rubicon (3)

Seemed very flat last start when 7th in the Black Heart Bart where he settled a long way back in a race dominated by the on-pacers. The start before he came from well back to win the Nicopolis Stakes by nearly 2 lengths with dominant closing splits. Has a top record at this track and distance. Don’t dismiss.

11. Comfort Me (12)

Resumes after 23 week and has been trialling well. Can surprise.

12. Titan Blinders (4)

This 8YO was runner-up on this race last year. Resumed after a 21 week spell for 3rd in the Black Heart Bart. Can make his presence felt.

13. Karli’s Karma (11)

The only mare in the race. Resumed for 2.7 lengths 6th in the Jolly Beggar Stakes on soft going. Could place.
