Caulfield Sprint 2023 Race Details
Race 6 at Caulfield Racecourse on Saturday the 21st October 2023.
The Caulfield Sprint is a Group 2 1000 metre open handicap race run by the Melbourne Racing Club in October. It is run at Caulfield as part of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival. The total prize money is $300,000 this year.

Caulfield Sprint 2023 Preview
Track: Good Weather: Fine
The scratching of Midwest leaves just the six to go around in the Caulfield Sprint. Lofty Strike is the class galloper and has been weighted accordingly with 59kg. No other horse will carry more than 54kg. Spacewalk has been the big firmer early for Godolphin and Jamie Kah. General Beau is next pick in the market resuming off a good Flemington jump out.
Caulfield Sprint 2023 Runner by Runner
1. Lofty Strike
Class horse. He won a Rubiton in the Autumn and was Group 1 placed in the Oakleigh Plate. I thought he looked a little bit rusty in his jump outs but it would be no surprise to see him come out and win here first up.
2. Generation
He wasn’t disgraced in the Moir last start, loves Caulfield and maps for a gun run with Willow going on. Has to be some chance in this.
3. Indian Pacific
Perth Visitor who resumes off a lengthy spell. Prefer others.
4. General Beau
Resumes. Loved his recent jump out and gets an in-form Damian Lane. Another who goes well at Caulfield.
5. Midwest – SCRATCHED
6. Spacewalk
Was backed as if unbeatable first up at Warwick Farm and could not have been more impressive winning there. Looks well placed here on the minimum.
7. Doull
Wasn’t beaten far in an easier contest first up for the new stable. Needs to elevate off that to be a factor here.
