Easter Cup 2023 Race Details
Race 8 at Sandown Racecourse on Saturday the 8th April 2023.
The Easter Cup is a Group 3 race held at Sandown Lakeside over 2100 metres this year. It is an open handicap race held on Easter Saturday. The total prizemoney this year is $200,000.

Easter Cup 2023 Preview
Track: Wet Weather: Showers
Interesting race with the Melbourne Cup favourite White Marlin resuming. He’s up against Right You Are who is looking to make it six wins in a row. Lunar Flare is going well and should be near peak fitness third up while Sparkle won easily last start and is on the minimum weight.
Easter Cup 2023 Runner by Runner
1. Camorra
Beaten a long way in last years Melbourne Cup which was his first Australian start. Market is suggesting he will need the run here first up.
2. Fancy Man
Import having second start for Annabel Neasham. He closed off well first up at Rosehill and the wet track will be to his liking.
3. Right You Are
Attempting to make it six wins in a row. Wet track is some query but if there’s a chink in the favs armour he is one that can expose it.
4. Mankayan
Is ready to do something here fourth up and loves the wet. He can run a place.
5. Lunar Flare
Was second in a high rating Moonee Valley Cup in the spring. She can run a place here as long as they are making ground.
6. Barb Raider
Was strong late at the Valley last start against the mares and looks suited stepping out in trip.
7. Horrifying
Chased Munhamek home at the Valley last start. 2000m and a wet track will be to his liking.
8. White Marlin
Resumes in second preparation for Waterhouse and Bott. Was impressive winning all three starts in the spring including his last start by 5.5 lengths. He has jumped out well and rates highly with J Childs in the saddle.
9. Witchachar Star
Outclassed.
10. Sparkle
Won by a big space at Flemington last start however did not beat much. Consider for multiples.
11. Captain Envious
Sharply up in trip. He did some nice things in the spring but I would like to see him again before backing.
12. So You See
She was okay at the Valley last start. I prefer Barb Raider coming out of that lead up.
13. Starspangled Baby
