Aquanita Stakes – 2022

Seven runners have accepted for the $125,000 Listed Aquanita Stakes and there have been no early scratchings. The Daniel & Ben Pearce stable have entered two runners for the event, and every other trainer has just one entry each.

Black Fantasy has opened up the $2.00 favourite for the Aquanita Stakes on the back of his displays in the Raconteur Stakes and the Belmont Guineas. Outspoken Lad sits on the second line of betting and looks the likely pace in the race, which ensures he will be in the race a long way.

Mojo Rhythm rounds out the top three in the betting and will relish the smaller field over the 2000m.

1. Black Fantasy (4)

Ran well first up in the Raconteur Stakes when third to Devoted and backed it up with a similar run when third to Devoted in the Belmont Guineas. 2000m is right up his alley and back against his own sex also suits. The one to beat.

2. Outspoken Lad (2)

Ran credibly last start in weaker grade but has performed well in this grade prior. Likely to set the pace of the race and will be the one to catch in the straight.

3. Mojo Rhythm (1)

Toughest race to date but seemed to relish the 2100m last start, albeit in a weaker grade. Definite place chance.

4. Kentucky Blue (3)

Been very consistent over his last four starts with one win and three placings in weaker grades. 2000m shouldn’t pose an issue and will likely be in the finish.

5. Blue Card (5)

This looks too tough, good chance at some decent prize money outside the placings.

6. Tizzle Top (7)

Outclassed and fighting for minor prize money.

7. Fire At Will (6)

Big step in grade. Top jockey engaged. Think this is a bridge too far but keep one eye on it’s performance.
