Vain Stakes 2023 Race Details
Race 8 at Caulfield Racecourse on Saturday the 19th August 2023.
The Vain Stakes is a Group 3 race held at Caulfield racecourse over 1100 metres. It is a set weight plus penalties race for three-year-old colts and geldings. The total prizemoney is $200,000 this year.

Vain Stakes Stakes 2023 Preview
Track: Soft Weather: Fine
Seven three year old colts/geldings are set to go around in the $200,000 Group 3 Vain Stakes. The Blue Diamond winner Little Brose is here so is the Golden Slipper runner up Cylinder and he has been penciled up as an odds on favourite. I Am Unstoppable and Scheelite are both unbeaten and resuming in their second preparation.
Vain Stakes 2023 Runner by Runner
1. Little Brose (6)
Group 1 Blue Diamond winner. He needs to find a length or two to challenge the favourite but that is not completely unreasonable given how well the Hayes/Dee combo is going.
2. Cylinder (7)
Godolphin colt who won the Silver Slipper and Todman before finishing second in the Golden Slipper. He looks mighty hard to beat here first up off some good trials with Blake Shinn in the saddle.
3. Krakarib (1)
Gelded. Can’t have him off what he did in the Autumn.
4. I Am Unstoppable (4)
Unbeaten son of I Am Invincible. This is a step up from the races he competed in in the Autumn but he’s a line finder and maps for a nice run.
5. Scheelite (2)
Liked his two wins earlier in the year. Similar to I Am Unstoppable – is a line finder but does rise in grade.
6. Ouroboros (5)
Winner here last start but not convinced that form holds up against the better three year olds.
7. Veecee(3)
Started $14 in the Blue Diamond and had clear excuses there. His recent jump outs suggest he is going well enough to be competitive first up.
