Quezette Stakes – 2023

Following the early scratching of Lazzago, 14 three-year-old fillies remain for the 2023 Quezette Stakes. They have all raced between one and 6 times, and only one is still a maiden. Ten runners are first-up from a spell and two had their last start in a 2YO Fillies handicap over 1000m at Moonee Valley on 29 July where they quinellaed the race. Two runners are sired by I Am Invincible, and Anthony & Sam Freedman have 3 runners.

The early favourite is Charm Stone who won the Group 3 Ottawa Stakes last November and has won a recent trial. Second favourite is Skirt The Law who has 3 wins from 4 starts. Third favourite is Kimochi who has been trialling well. Shesallshenanigans has won 3 of her 5 starts and is going for a hat-trick here. Ulanova has won a Group 1 race in New Zealand, while Tiz Enuff led all the way for a 3.8 length win at Moonee Valley on 29 July. All other runners are currently over $16.

She is one of 2 runners sired by I Am Invincible (the other is Sicilian).  Won the Group 3 Ottawa Stakes over 1000m at Flemington last November and has won a recent trial by 2 lengths. Winning chance.

4. De Sonic Boom (12)

Resumes from a 7 week let-up after running 2nd over 1000m at Sunshine Coast. Tends to settle back. Prefer others.

5. Skirt The Law (1)

Tony Gollan galloper with 3 wins from 4 starts. Perfectly drawn in barrier 1 and can figure in the finish.

6. Princess Duhallow (8)

Resumes from an 18 week spell. Prefer to watch.

7. Show Royale (5)

Two wins from 2 races making her one of 2 unbeaten runners. Would not surprise to see her in the finish.

8. Shesallshenanigans (7)

Resumes after 18 week spell,  has won 3 of her 5 starts and is going for a hat-trick here. Has good early speed and is a serious player.

9. Kimochi (10)

Has a win and 2 places from 3 starts and has been trialling well. Don’t dismiss.

10. Tiz Enuf (4)

Led all the way for a 3.8 length win at Moonee Valley on 29 July. Looked impressive but it was a leader-biased track that day. Should be a contender.

11. Axzelina (14)

Won her only start by a tight margin. Not the worst.

12.Hell Queen (15)

Back from a 21 week spell and gets winkers on for the first time. Drawn the outside barrier and has been trialling very well. Place chance.

13. Zousuko (2)

The only maiden runner in the field. She has been runner-up twice in 4 starts, including behind Tiz Enuff on 29 July. Looking to others.

14. Sicilian (13)

Led all the way to win last start to break her maiden over 1150m at Kensington on 5 July after being runner-up at her previous 2 starts. In the mix.

15. Iphimedia (6)

Resumes after 13 weeks and was a win and 2 runner-ups ffrom 3 starts. Rough chance.
