The James H B Carr Stakes is a Group 3 race held at Randwick Racecourse and is run over 1400 metres. It is run under set-weights and penalties conditions for fillies aged three-years-old. The total prize money is $250,000 this year.

James H B Carr Stakes 2024 Preview

Track: Good Weather: Fine

Miraval Rose was a little disappointing fresh but will be harder to beat here and maps for a nice run. Inhibitions scored a good win last start and can go on with things. Scarlet Oak will get all the favours from barrier 1 and should prove hard to hold out. French Endeavour will need a bit to go right from the draw but has the talent and can give this a shake.

1. Kristilli (2)

Has been around the mark without winning this prep. Maps well from the draw, Kah is an ideal booking and is good enough to take this out.

2. Miraval Rose (7)

Likeable chances here. Plenty to like about the three length win at the end of last year. Didn’t quite go on with things first up but it was a fast pressured race and Miraval Rose will be strips fitter for this. Hard to beat.

3. Inhibitions (8)

Won in a head bobbing finish last start and this race is no harder. Berry steers from barrier 8 which should afford a good run in transit.

4. Chica Mojito (5)

NZ raider that is a market watch fresh with the booking of Gibbons. Can win.

5. French Endeavour (14)

Got plenty of time for this runner who is having a superb prep. Not too badly drawn as he will get back anyways and has the right profile and runs on the board to take this out. Big push with J-Mac jumping on.

6. Material Dreams (10)

Can’t have.

7. Extraordinaire (12)

Prefer others.

8. Konasana (4)

This looks too tough.

9. Pajanti (11)

Leaning to others.

10. Hellbent On You (13)

Not this time.

11. Hasty Honey (6)

Can’t have.

12. Scarlet Oak (1)

Lovely debut win in NZ and is a market watch fresh here from the pole position. Hard to line up the form but has claims on its AUS debut.

13. Unique Ambition (3)

Won well first up then just battled on the heavy second up but should enjoy getting onto good footing and going up in trip. Place chance.

14. It’s A Wonder (9)
